I've tried spybot s&d, ms anti spyware beta, ad-aware, bho demon 2.0, and now hijackthis. Can someone advise on what steps i should take now? I've tried terminating the running processes mssearchnet.exe and nvctrl.exe through windows task manager and it just keeps loading up and staying running. Here is my HJT log. If you see something i've missed, please advise. Thanks.

Did you run the Hijack This in Safe Mode for this log ???

Run Hijack This and click on scan. The following items need to be fixed -

O2 - BHO: HomepageBHO - {893fad3a-931e-4e53-b515-b1426d63799b} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\hp5637.tmp

Close all windows other than Hijack This. Check the boxes next to above items and click on Fix checked.

Reboot the PC in Normal Mode and post a fresh HJT log please
