I had a virus, similiar to someone ele'se on this site, so I followed the same steps they had to take, I was wondering if someone could look at this log and see if it looks clean

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

There is no pressure on you to do everything fast. We guys handle a lot of the infections on aregular basis and can post real quickly in some cases.

You take your own time to complete any instructions we give you and post back the logs.

The Silent runners log you posted doesnt seem to be the complete log.

I'm having trouble finding the log after it downloads a message says its done and the folder that its in but I cant find the folder , its localsettings/ sometihng something something

The log file will be saved in the same directory as the silentrunners.vbs file.

So if you saved Silent Runners.vbs file on your desktop, then the log file would also be saved on the desktop.

In case you have any issues then please download Silent Runners.vbs file again. Save it on the desktop and then run it. Post back the log.

First, Download LSPFix.exe to a convenient location. Do NOT run this program. This is only to be used if you lose Internet Access after removing NewDotNet.

To Get rid of NewDotNet, go to:

Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and remove the following:

New.Net Applications or New.Net Domains (anything that says New.Net)

If it is not there, go here and follow Procedure 4: NewDotNet Removal Procedure 4.

In the event that you lose Internet access after removing New.Net, please double-click LSPFix.exe that you downloaded earlier. Check the "I know what I'm doing" button. You will see 2 panels. If there is any file listed in the "Remove" panel on the right-side, leave it as is and just click "Finish>>" then reboot your computer and you should now have access to the Internet. If nothing is listed under the "Remove Panel", do NOT do anything - just close the program. You will need to use another computer to come back here for further instructions on what to do.




Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log, and we'll clean up what's left.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

Hi Brian,

The entry is proving to be sticky and therefore traces of the infection still remain on your PC.


1) Do you have administrator rights on the PC through the login profile that you used for the fix ???


2) please go to the l2mfix folder, find backup.zip and send it here so we can have a look at the files.

Lets try this -

Please reboot the PC in Safe Mode. Login with a user profile which has administrative rights on the PC.

Locate the file - second.bat - in the l2mfix folder. Double click on the file.

After it completes, reboot the PC in normal mode.

In the l2mfix folder there will be a txt file - log.txt.

Please post the contents of it in your reply.
