windows explorer/my computer causes pc to freeze

hey. whenever i delete a file in my computer or windows explorer, and then close it, my computer freezes. so now whenever i delete some file, i have to (like an idiot) keep it minimized so my comp doesn't freeze. do u have any idea what could cause this? i'm running xp home edition.

Try running check disk. I think explorer may be encountering some corruption on the disk which is causing it to crash if that doesn't solve it run System File Checker to check for corrupt system files.

You can run both of these from START - RUN

CHKDSK /F
SFC /SCANNOW
