:tazz: Hello G-2-G

hopefully this will be a quicky but will get me out of shtuck.....

when trying to open any word document with a 'double click' all it
ends up doing is launching WORD. To get the desired document to
open I have to open file on top left of screen then find the doc
I need then double click again.

Until recently a double click on any doc. would both launch
WORD and open .doc

currently running XP pro and Word was part of Windows Office 2000

thanks in advance

Well, the file association between .doc files and the word.exe, or whatever the executable file is actually named, has been lost. Open a folder, go to Folder Options>File Types, and reset the association. I'm not on an XP machine right now so I can't give you details on how. You might also be able to do it by a registry scan, which might be even better.

Looks like someones altered my login name........

no problem but the original was non offensive but a genuine piece of nautical equipment.....

to return to the subject have looked at file associations and all looks well.
Tried forcing an association using right click then 'open with word' and ticking the
use always box.

This duly opens the one I'm working on but from a cold file launch problem remains.

Please help as its my wife's laptop and divorce lawyers are beginning to hover
(in ever decreasing circles )

thanks again
