Good evening. I sure hope someone can help me. I have done all the steps indicated in the "Before posting HJT" and all steps came up clean. However, I get constant pop-ups to diff sites, pop-ups from Shop at Home Select & WebRebates, redirected to registry fixers, etc...I also have major problems with multiple iexplore events in my task manager, and misc. explorer errors that close everything down...Thanks in advance for any help! you can give. HJT from tonite 9-28-05 follows.

Hi Sam! My apologies in not getting back sooner. I still need lots of help. I have repeatedly run all the pre-HJT steps and still have major problems. It might be too late, but here's the last HJT I've run. Again my apologies in taking so long to reply. Thanks for any help and the patience!!! I currently have my system restore turned off...it seems to help just a bit with slowing down the weird dll files that keep appearing in my system folder.

No problem on the delay. I'm here all the time. :tazz:

There's not much showing up in your log. On a hunch let's run this tool and see what turns up.

Please download L2m9xfix here:
http://swandog46.gee...om/l2m9xfix.exe

Save it to the desktop and run it. Extract the files, and then open the l2m9xfix folder you just created and run RunThis.bat.

A window will open, and your desktop will disappear, then reappear. Please be patient until the batch says it is completed.

Then please restart your computer, and post a new HijackThis log as well as the entire text of the log.txt file which should be in the same folder as RunThis.bat.

Download the Pocket Killbox.

Unzip the contents of KillBox.zip to a convenient location and then double-click on KillBox.exe to launch the program.
  • Highlight the lines below and press the Ctrl key and the C key at the same time to copy them to the clipboard:

    • C:\WINDOWS\system\AVMUI.DLL
      C:\WINDOWS\system\JBAW400.DLL
      C:\WINDOWS\system\MBTASK.DLL

  • Now go to the Killbox application and click on the File menu and then the Paste from Clipboard menu item. In the Full Path of File to Delete box you should see the first file. If you dropdown that box you should see the rest of them. Make sure that they are all there.
  • Click on the Delete on Reboot option and then click on the red circle with a white 'X' in to to delete the files. Killbox will tell you that all listed files will be deleted on next reboot, click YES. When it asks if you would like to Reboot now, click YES. If you get a "PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been Removed by External Process!" message then just restart manually.
Your system will reboot now.

Please run Panda Online Virus Scan
  • You must allow the active-x control to run when asked.
  • There may be files that this scan will not remove.
  • Please include that information in your next post.
Reboot and post a new hijackthis log and the info from your virus scan.

Please run this fix again for me.

Hmmmm....the tool is finding the right files, but seems to have trouble deleting them.

Use Killbox just as you did before to delete these files on reboot.

C:\WINDOWS\system\AVMUI.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\system\CRMCTL32.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\system\JBAW400.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\system\lbtxt13.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system\MBTASK.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\system\MCLS31.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\system\MHDEMUI.DLL

After you reboot run L2M fix again and post the log here.

I'm not sure where the problem is, so let me check with Swandog46(the devloper of the tool) and I'll get right back with you.

It seems you may have a new variant that has popped up recently. It's been a real stinker to deal with.

Can you go into this folder....

C:\WINDOWS\Desktop\l2m9xfix\backups

and locate clsid.txt

Please email that file to Swandog46[AT]go[DOT]com
Let me know once you have sent it and I'll touch base with him and find out where we go from here.

Good morning Sam. Okay, I checked the back up folder for the text file and there isn't one in the folder. I seem to have DLL files only in the backup folder. However, if it would help, I can give you guys the exact registry user agent string that seems to related to this whole problem. Not sure what to do at this point. I thought I better hold off emailing until I can find that file he needs. :tazz:

Hi Kitt24 :tazz:

I've asked Buckeye_Sam if I can step in here and help you out if possible. Can you do the following for me please? Please go to Start -> Run -> regedit and press Enter. In the registry editor, use the left-hand panel to navigate to the key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID

Right-click on CLSID and choose Export

Save the file as a Text File to your desktop (call it clsid.txt or something). Then please email this file to me at the address Buckeye_Sam gave above. :)
