windows xp port problem.

when on e-bay cannot buy on any site....when i ask to buy it says...
Requested URL could not be retrieved.
request rejected because the port it was connecting to is not configured to receive the protocal being sent.
Am running windows xp sp2.
It's in the setup but cannot find the problem. any help ...

ports are virtual connections between machines....given you are talking about purchasing something online, and problems are resulting from efforts to do this, I would be very concerned about some sort of virus/trojan, which may interfere with secure ports.

You should visit our malware forum and get a good look before we try anything here.

here is the info that i get when trying to log into some web pages and also e-bay and places like tiger direct computers.

The requested URL could not be retrieved

The following error was encountered:
The request was rejected because the port it was connecting to
is not configured to receive the protocol being sent.
Please contact your network administrator.

I have ran adaware,avg,spyware,clean-up. Don't know what else to do. All help will be app. Has to be in some of the setup with xp or all the new updates .

Did you do an online scan of your computer with Trend Micro?

Well found the problem...it was the anti virus...was using avg free edition and deleted and installed avg network pro and works fine. Thanks for all the help.
