In my home we currently have broadband internet through a router to two desktop PCs and my own laptop. The internet has suddenly stopped working on my laptop. It ran MSN messenger for a while but didn't load any pages in internet explorer or firefox and now it will not work at all. I have contacted the broadband company and they say it isn't a problem with the service, and the router is working (as the laptop won't work on any cable, even those that will supply internet to ther other computers or another laptop we've tried. My laptop is running Windows XP and the other two computers are running Windows 2000.

My only guess could be that I have damaged my ethernet cable input socket in some way and that that is why I can't get any internet, as the cables work for the other computers but not mine.

Any ideas guys?

Sometimes on my laptop I have to go to start>connect to>show all connections then right click on the LAN connection, disable it, then reenable it beforeit will detect a connection. Not exactly sure why it does that, but it works for me. Give it a try.
