I am plagued by two things that I suspect go hand in hand.

1) WinFix (and all it's similar sister pop ups).

2) VirtuMonde.

I never had either problem until I got hit with both which is what makes me think they go together. (Like pea's in a pod).


It seems that I only get hit with either or both when I use Internet Explorer. If I browse with FireFox I don't get hit with it.


I use and run Microsoft Anti Spy Ware and it works to remove the VirtuMonde adware virus - HOWEVER it does not block it from returning. Lately I've had to run it several times a day and reboot, etc. What a pain!


I also have Symantec and have downloaded their VirtuMonde remover and that has been useless in every way. This I don't get at all.

When infected with VirtuMonde my system runs so slow I can't do anything without crashes.



I've looked at ChaChazz's post's and his Spyware Block product.

Bottom line I can only remove if for a few hours and it comes back. I want it gone forever and the people who invented it assasinated.

• POST the log into this thread using 'Add Reply' (Ctrl-V to 'paste')

1. Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

• Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files
• This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.
• After the files are extracted, please REBOOT your computer into Safe Mode.
  
  You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
  
  
• Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
• You will first be presented with a warning and a list of forums to seek help at.

2. The fix will run then HijackThis will open.

3. Download and install CleanUp!

• Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
• Set the program up as follows:
• Click "Options..."
• Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
• Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):
• Empty Recycle Bins
• Delete Cookies
• Delete Prefetch files
• Cleanup! All Users

[*]Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

I have followed your instructions thru step one...

HOWEVER.

After as the fix began to run my Norton antivirus stepped in halted process and informed my of 'Malicious content' and recomended I stop it.

I did.

The program then said to contact you.

Should I do this process again and not stop it this time? What is going on?

2. Then re-DOWNLOAD VUNDOFix from the link provided.

3. Rerun the fix with the parameters that I have provided.

4. Post a fresh HJT log for review.

The message reads that the file path does not exist.

and

C:\WINDOWS\system32\fhkmp.*

These are the ones I input and after the second one it says it does not exist and to check it.

NOTHING has changed from my last HJT. Did YOU compare the two?
