hey...i got this through a link that someone sent me on aim, and in addition to making my aim go crazy and sending the virus to everyone on my buddy list, my computer sometimes randomly shuts off or restarts, and has been acting up...i noticed that pokapoka70.exe keeps showing up on my processes and i'm assuming that has something to do with it...and after running adaware, norton, cwshredder, and an online scan things are still acting up....the spyware removal programs also couldn't delete some of the things they found...lastly, it opens tons of IE popups, even though i usually use mozilla....anyway, here's the hijackthis log...thank you so much in advance for your help, really appreciated

Hi there and welcome pinkpanther21
Need you to do a couple things please,

Download LQfix.exe and place it on your desktop.
Doubleclick LQfix.exe and click install.
This will create a new folder called LQfix on your desktop.
Open the folder and doubleclick ClickThis.bat
Follow the prompts on the screen.
Your system will reboot afterwards.
Please be patient after reboot, because there is a script running in the background.

Next
Go to Add/Remove programs and remove the following please

ProSiteFinder.exe
SurfAccuracy
InetGet

Next
Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it hjt
Move HJT into this new folder please,
This is important so please do this prior to anything else please

Post back a fresh HJt log when Finished

deleted everything...except O4 - HKLM\..\RunOnce: [ClrSchUninstall] C:\DOCUME~1\Lynn\LOCALS~1\Temp\Uninstall.EXE -b, which showed up on my first HJT log, but didn't show up the second time, so i couldn't delete it...also, after we're done with all the cleaning, should i uninstall and reinstall aim? or it won't make a difference....here's the new log, thanks so much for all your time and help

Excellent almost there,

Please restart HJT put a check next to the following, close all open windows and click Fix Checked

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Microsoft Windows DLL Services Configuration] windir32.exe

Restart your computer,

Post back a fresh HJT,

after we're done with all the cleaning, should i uninstall and reinstall aim? or it won't make a difference

Shouldn't be necessary

thank you so much for all your help...i'm still getting IE popups, mainly the same one that was coming up while the virus was bad but it could be unrelated....also, i haven't opened aim at all during the lceaning process, but when i do, it shouldn't still be automatically sending IMs to people on my buddy list right? here's the hjt log, thanks again for your rapid response and help

Lets look a little deeper,
  • Download FindIt's.zip to your desktop: http://forums.net-in...=post&id=142443
  • Unzip/extract the files inside to a folder on your desktop.
  • Open the folder and run FindIt's.bat and wait for notepad to open a text file. It will take awhile so please be patient ...
  • Then post the results here please, along with the new HijackThis log.
Also

Please click this link to download Silent Runners.
* Save it to the desktop.
* Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
* You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done yet, just let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
* Once you receive the prompt "All Done!", double-click on the new text file on the desktop and copy that entire log and paste it here.

*NOTE* If you receive any warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.

Run this online free scan
ActiveScan
Post back what that finds as well please

hi again.... i ran killbox....nothing happened when i rebooted the computer that i could see, but maybe it deleted the files w/o any notification, and the "pendingoperations" notice came up as a statement that i pressed ok, not as a yes or no question, but there were 2 questions asking whether or not i wanted to restart my computer. either way, i'm hoping it deleted the files. i updated and ran norton, it didn't find anything. Here's the RKFiles log, followed by the active scan log...the popups from IE stopped and one of the ones that kept comning up was actually one of my spyware removal programs alerting me that the IE homepage had been changed. (from something bad to something good) ...so i think the computer is generally in better shape. thanks again, here are the logs:

RKFiles:

C:\antispyware\RKFiles

PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL FILES FOUND BY THIS METHOD ARE NOT BAD FILES, THERE MIGHT BE LEGIT FILES LISTED AND PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHILE FIXING. IF YOU ARE UNSURE OF WHAT IT IS LEAVE THEM ALONE.

Much better :tazz:

Click Start | Control Panel.
Double-click the "Java Control Panel"
On the 'General' tab under the 'Temporary Internet Files section', click Delete Files.
Click Apply and then OK.

Open killbox again, Copy and paste the following into "Full path of file to delete"

C:\Documents and Settings\Lynn\Application Data\Sskknwrd.dll

Click on the Red circle with the X in it, Click yes to confirm Delete,
Again the computer should restart, If not restart manually

Run Active scan one more time and lets see what it comes back with

Though i'm still freaked to open aim, things are looking much better, thanks again for all your help..the fact that people stay on these sites and respond is amazing....maybe this is because i have XP but i didn't have java control panel as an option, and then when i used the classic view of control panel i had the java plug in control panel which didn't have the option of deleting temp internet files on it...but i just went w/ my computer and found the folder with temp internet files and deleted all of them...i hope that's okay....anyway, here's the active log, thanks again

OK lets just finish these off with kill box " there nothing much to worry abiut,

*Please open notepad and save these instructions, Name it something you will remember
*In the killbox program, select the Delete on Reboot option.
*Open the text file with these instructions in it, and copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

C:\Documents and Settings\Lynn\Application Data\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\javapi\v1.0\file\SecurityClassLoader.class-6fd9f626-55ce8303.class
C:\Documents and Settings\Lynn\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Ssk.log

*Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".
*Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

Restart manually if it doesn't restart,

Once done,

Nice job your log is clean !
How is it running ?
Please use the following suggestion to help prevent reinfection

First Off,
*Be sure and reset your hidden Files and Folders*

Download the following program, For keeping crap off your system to begin with
Prevent the installation of ActiveX-based spyware, adware, browser hijackers, dialers, and other potentially unwanted pests. Block spyware/tracking cookies in Internet Explorer and Mozilla/Firefox. Restrict the actions of potentially dangerous sites in Internet Explorer.
Download Spyware Blaster

Keep AD-Aware. and Spybot 1.3 handy, Check them for updates prior to running and run them weekly
Same with your Anti Virus,

For an added check run an online virus scan, you can use one of the 2 below,
TrendMicro's HouseCall
ActiveScan

Be sure and give the Temp folders a cleaning out now and then as well, Make sure after you clean your Temp files to empty out your Recycle bin as well.
Click Start | Run | type in cleanmgr | OK

Let it scan your system for files to remove.

Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.

Press OK to remove them.

Remeber to Check Windows for updates

Probably a good time to create a new restore point See Here for XP

See Here for ME Name it clean or something like that,

By the way I noticed at least one other user on the computer, Make sure you can log on as Admin to finish cleaning the last few items and setting up programs for preventing reinfection and doing a cleaning once a week or so,
