Hey cpausti :) Lets try something a little different.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.
Be sure you log in as Administrator in Safe Mode this time.

In Safe Mode Please Delete all these folders if present:

C:\Documents and Settings\Compaq_Owner\Favorites\Casino & Carrers\
C:\Documents and Settings\Compaq_Owner\Favorites\Casino & Adult\
C:\Documents and Settings\Compaq_Owner\Favorites\Finances & Business\
C:\Documents and Settings\Compaq_Owner\Favorites\Health & Insurance\
C:\Documents and Settings\Compaq_Owner\Favorites\Homelife & Travel\

In Safe Mode Please Delete the following files:

C:\WINDOWS\Temp\~595730.tmp

If it still will not let you delete the file proceed with the following directions

Next
PLease open HijackThis and click the "none of the above" button.
Now click on the "Config" button
Now click on the "Misc Tools" button
Now click on the "Delete a file on Reboot" Navigate to: C:\WINDOWS\Temp\~595730.tmp and click it.
When it asks you to reboot click Yes ( it should do it for you, if not Reboot into Normal Mode.)

Next
C:\WINDOWS\Temp\~595730.tmp <-------
Please be sure this file is gone and let me know if you got rid of it :woot:

Next

Now lets clean out your temporary files:

* Start | Run | type cleanmgr | OK
* Let it scan your system for files to remove.
* Make sure Temporary Files, Temporary Internet Files, and Recycle Bin are the only things checked.
* Click "OK" to remove them.
* Click "Yes" to confirm the deletion.

The file did NOT delete. HiJack This didn't delete it either. It just wont let go! All of the bad folders in Favorites are gone, though.

Hey cpausti :tazz: Your doing a great job. Apparently there might be something hiding we cant see, but will find it :woot:

Next
Please be sure you have a Normal Startup enabled. Here is how you do it:Click the Start button
Click the Run button
Type the following in box provided-----> msconfig
Click OK
Click the "Normal Startup- load all device drivers and services"
Click Apply & Restart computer into safe mode.
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Next
Please open HijackThis:
Click "none of the above"
Click "config"
Click "misc tools"
Click "Generate Startup List"
Click "Yes"
That log will be saved in your HijackThis folder as startuplist.txt

Please Reboot to normal mode and make a NEW HijackThis log. Please post back with the new HJT log and startuplist.txt in your next reply :woot:

Hey cpausti :tazz: I forgot to have you check the 2 boxes in HJT stated below.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Next
Please open HijackThis:
Click "none of the above"
Click "config"
Click "misc tools"
Put a Check Mark next to "List all Minor Sections (full)" and "List Empty Sections (complete)"
Click "Generate Startup List"
Click "Yes"
That log will be saved in your HijackThis folder as startuplist.txt

Please Reboot to normal mode and make a NEW HijackThis log. Please post back with the new HJT log and startuplist.txt in your next reply :)

Let the system reboot.

Make sure that C:\WINDOWS\Temp\~595730.tmp is gone. If not please boot into "safe mode" again and delete the file manually.

Hey cpausti :woot: Your log is Clean !!!!! :tazz: :)

Well if you dont plan on keeping Ewido after the 14 day trial then go ahead and uninstall it. I personally dont use it unless i catch something bad..

1. It seems you dont have a Anti Virus running... If not click the AVG Anti Virus link in my Signature for a direct link to the Download. It works good and is free and automatically updates.

2. Also a Firewall ( I dont mean Windows Firewall ) is very important if you dont have one click the ZoneAlarm Link on my Signature and start using it :P

3. Also SpywareBlaster is a must have !!! CLick the link in my Sig To download it :P Update it Weekly and be sure to click " Enable all Protection " after your updates.

4. I see you have SpybotS&D installed and running :) :woot: Keep it Updated and Immunized !!!!

With those 4 programs you are in really good shape.

Also Get your Critical Windows Updates.. Right click on my computer and select properties. Now click the "Automatic Updates" tab and set it to Automatic.

Also Wouldnt hurt to go to the "Hosts File" link and download the "hosts.zip" Unzip it and then copy and paste the file in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS\ETC and allow it to replace the file that was already there. This will automatically block you from accidentally typing a bad address and going to a site that will install malware on your computer.

Well it has been fun Helping you cpausti :woot: If you have any more questions Let me know... otherwise Happy Internet Surfing !!!!
