I did a scan with Microsoft AntiSpyware and got rid of all the spyware/adware but no matter how many times i try i cant get rid of the adware Virtumundo. It shows up in my Windows registry when i do a scan. I tried not using IE and switched over to Firefox but its not helping. Its reaking havoc with my dial-up internet connection. I'll be connected and i cant open any web pages or will say the connection has timed out. The connection is either really bad or really good.

Last night after i followed your instructions i was on the internet for a couple of hours and the connection was great. When i got back on this morning it was giving me a bit oftrouble but i did manage to get to this site so Im not sure if its just the issue of having dial-up or if theres still something else that needs to be fixed. Is there something i can download to improve my connection? Thanks for all your help.

Just wanted to add that Im getting alot of "The operation timed out when attempting to contact xxx". I eventually get through but its a real pain. Not sure if this is something that can be fixed. On the good side Im not having the modem issues from before. I would try to connect to the internet and it would say modem not configured correctly or that it was already in use when it wasn't. So at least thats taken care of.

Click on Start ---> Run. Type in

cmd

and hit enter.

In the DOS window, type the following command -

ipconfig /dnsflush


Close the DOS window.

Any improvement in your browser behaviour ??

Last night right after i did it I had a great connection. But all day today its been slow again. Ive mostly gotten "this address cannot be found...try again" message instead of the operation timed out. I have gotten through quickly maybe one or two times all day.
