I use file sharing websites/programs such as Webshots, and Photodex to share photos and slideshows. I recently have been unable to successfully upload any files using these programs. Whatever the issue is, it also affects my ability to upload to Yahoo Briefcase, and Lycos/Tripod webpage creator. I am using Windows XP home edition. It has been over a month since this problem began, so I don't recall anything specific that may have led to the problem. I have had to deal with a larger problem (missing desktop and taskbar) which I solved by running adaware and spybot s&d. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestion. I do not use an FTP program, the uploading for Photodex and Webshots is part of the software. The web-based upload site also does not work for both Photodex and Webshots. The Yahoo briefcase, as well as the Lycos/Tripod sites are also web-based, and do not work (on my computer). I CAN upload to ftp sites, using Windows explorer. However, I do not know the ftp locations for these particular sites that I use often, I therefore cannot load pictures or slideshows to these sites.

Hello,

How is your home network set up? Do you have just one computer connected to your internet connection or do you have a number of computers connecting through a router? I am trying to think of reasons you can use FTP through IE but these programs can't connect. Also, what firewall do you use on your computer that is having problems?

Cheers,
Tom

You may need to configure your firewalls, including the windows firewall for port forwarding and to allow the executables access to the net. Also you may need to update your JRE. If you're connected to a router you may need to port forward it too.

I have Zone Labs Integrity Flex as a Firewall... I have not changed any settings on this since successfully using the cited programs in the past. I have tried running the programs with the firewall disabled. No luck. I do have a broadband wireless router... again.. it was installed/working prior to my upload problems. :tazz:

ok, since you have had a problem with spyware that you fixed previously to this issue we should:

1)get a "highjackthis" log to make sure everything is cleaned up. frequently there are lots of left overs that have to be cleaned up with additional software or via manual removal methods.

2) have you tried reinstalling the software?

OK.. I think my problem is related to my Dell Truemobile router...
The file uploading problem is mimicked on another computer on the network, so it does not appear to be computer-specific. If I use a computer totally separate from my home system (ie: computer at work), I can upload files to web-based applications.
The other computer (only one other) on my home network gives me the same error about detecting the network. My Dell Truemobile Control Utility cannot detect the router. I've tried shutting down and cutting power to my whole system in hopes of resetting my system, but didn't seem to work.
Any suggestions? Ideas? :tazz: :) :)
