Hi Captainkangaroo,

you [bleep]ing up my computer cause if you are man i will send the sas to assasinate you right.

Ok, I have warned you once before about your bad language. Secondly, I do not appreciate stupid threats like this, even if you are joking. I am trying to help you and if you continue with this type of reply then I will stop helping you immediately.

Also let me know how your system is running... any more popups? any more freezing?

You did not answer this - please let me know how your system is running now.

Anyway, since your last reply you seem to have downloaded and installed a Browser Toolbar called 'SearchPro'. You may have got this from this site.

I do not know much about this toolbar, but a quick scan of the Privacy & Terms shows signs that this could contain spyware :

...may automatically download the Updates onto your Computer...we may automatically provide such Updates to you at our discretion without any requirement for further approval or consent from you or notification to you.

collect some non-identifiable information for statistical purposes. This may include your occupation, your year of birth, your gender, your home postcode and information relating to your computer usage

we may collect certain information about how you interact with the Toolbar, such as your queries

Each time you visit a web page, a short form of the page address is sent to our server(s).

I would therefore advise you to remove this toolbar from your computer. There are other choices available, such as the Google Toolbar which does not send personal information, providing you do not use the advanced features.

If you wish to remove SearchPro, please do the following :

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O2 - BHO: SearchPRO - {4E7BD74F-2B8D-469E-8EEC-EF64B787BB38} - C:\WINDOWS\DOWNLO~1\SEARCH~1.DLL
O3 - Toolbar: SearchPRO - {4E7BD74F-2B8D-469E-8EEC-EF64B787BB38} - C:\WINDOWS\DOWNLO~1\SEARCH~1.DLL

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Please remove these entries from Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel(if present):

SearchPro

Please delete these files using Windows Explorer(if present):

C:\WINDOWS\DOWNLO~1\SEARCH~1.DLL

(I do not know the full filepath/name of this but it could be something like C:\WINDOWS\Downloads\SearchPro.DLL)

After that, Reboot and reply with a fresh HijackThis log :tazz:

Hi Captainkangaroo,

If you are happy with leaving SearchPro on your system, then the rest of your log is clean :tazz:

Please let me know how your system is running.

I would strongly advise you read and follow my prevention tips below.

Since your issues have been addressed and you are ready to travel the net again, I will just give you a few ideas on how to stay safe out there. Best of all these programs are all readily available on the net for free :)

To reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing SpywareBlaster and SpyWareGuard.

SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard are by JavaCool and both are free programs. SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed and consumes no system resources. SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.

More info and download is available at:

Spyware Blaster Spyware Guard

Might I suggest the following Free Spyware programs for added security, you can download them at the following links. These programs work great for detection:

Ad-aware SE--Adaware Tutorial

Spybot S&D--Spybot Tutorial

Antiviruses play an important role in keeping your computer safe and worry free while using the net. *NOTE* Only one antivirus must be allowed to run on your computer, as having two or more running can and will cause conflicts.

AVG Avast

Firewalls are also a must in any good prevention :

Zone Alarm Sygate Kerio

There are different browsers available on the net, other than Internet Explorer, we believe!! these are better for security purposes :

Firefox Opera

You must stay on top of your updates at all times, for the above mentioned applications.

It is vitally important to stay on top of your critical updates provided by microsoft.

This can be accessed by going to Windows Updates and following the prompts.

To add to the performance of your computer, i suggest a weekly maintenance program. Run this tool. Ccleaner

Lastly a second opinion on the Antivirus that you have chosen. I suggest running these online virus scans periodically, just to make sure that the av is doing a proper job, of keeping you safe :

Rav Online Scan Housecall Online Scan Panda Activescan

Housecall Java Online Scan<---For those who use Firefox, or opera.

And finally a little Posted Image How did I get infected in the first place ? (by Mr. Tony Klein and dvk01)

Good luck and safe surfing :woot:
