Hi there - I hope you can please help....

In the last few days my internet connection has become really slow and I'm not sure why. I have a 1 meg Cable connection to an external Motorola SB4100 modem, connected via USB to my motherboard.

As of last week everything was fine with it - regular speed checks at www.zensupport.co.uk/tools.aspx would show me getting about 900+ kbps on average. Now I seldom peek above 200 kbps.

I have Norton Internet Security 2005 installed and active and I have ran spybot 1.4, ms antispyware, adaware 6, cleanup! and registry mechanic this week. Spybot removed some threats like adclick and adaware got rid of any cookies but I am still running slow. According to the software I use, I'm clean....

I even ran these in Safe Mode to be sure. What is alarming me though is that I can see that my external modem "activity" light is on when I am in Safe Mode when I know it never used to do this. Does anyone know how I can fix this please?

Many thanks

If your modem is not acting as it should you could uninstall and reinstall the drivers to see if that solves that particular problem.

Where would I find the drivers for the modem (roughly)? My ISP did a diagnostic for me over the phone and they said it was working fine but I'll try anything once :tazz:

I'm also getting what seems to be a bit of system hang too....
