When I purchased my PC last year, running XP Home, I tried to install older DirectCD cd-burning software (originally bundled with HP CD burner). It didn't work, and even though un-installed via Add / Remove, every time I reboot I get a little dialog box in the task bar that 'CD recording software' conflicts with the operating system and will be disabled. It doesn't really seem to hurt anything, but the dialog box annoys me.
How can I find and remove whatever is causing this?

Check to see if it is in your start-up.

Go to start...run...type in "msconfig" (without the quotes).

Go to the last tab and see if it's checked. If it is, uncheck it, reboot and see if it occurs again.

I looked in the startup and it's not listed there. Any other ideas?

* Please click this link to download Silent Runners.
* Save it to the desktop.
* Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" icon on your desktop.
* You will see a text file appear on the desktop - it's not done yet, just let it run (it won't appear to be doing anything!)
* Once you receive the prompt "All Done!", double-click on the new text file on the desktop and copy that entire log and paste it here.

*NOTE* If you receive any warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.
