Explorer at 99% and WinFixer Popups [RESOLVED]

I really have to hand it to everyone that is part of this website and its services. I really appreciate having this free service available to everyone, so I will try to express my problem according to the websites guidelines thoroughly and clearly.

My two major problems aside from my computer's overall sluggishness is explorer.exe behaving erratically and the winfixer popup problem.

Explorer.exe
My problem with explorer.exe is whenver my computer is running for a while my computer slows down to a standstill and when I open up taskmanager > processes I see that explorer.exe is at 97-99% cpu even though I am only running an internet explorer window. I had this problem a few weeks ago a short time after I upgraded to itunes 5.0 and I thought that it might be because itunes was trying to connect and share music with everyone on my campus network because it showed other people's shared librarys in itunes. So I disabled sharing in itunes but mdnsresponder.exe (which I believe is part of itunes and is connecting to the internet) still kept running and causing explorer.exe to go to 99%, so I just uninstalled itunes all together, the problem went away for a while but then it came back. The explorer problem seems to happen when I leave the computer on for a while. When I try ending the explorer.exe process and waiting a few minutes and then creating the the new task "explorer" explorer.exe slowly bulids back up to 99%.


Winfixer
Also another big problem I have is with WinFixer, I keep getting pop-ups and microsoft windows dialogue boxes saying that I need to install winfixer and I just hit x. I don't know if the winfixer problem is related to the explorer problem.


I have asked some of my friends and they say that I need to defragment because explorer is looking for room but this is a new computer with 1 gb ram and the problem still occurs after I defragment.

I have Norton's Firewall and Norton's Antivirus, I also have Ewido running (will this conflict with norton?), I have Ad-aware se personal, Spybot-SD, Trojan Hunter and TH guard, and cwshredder.
All of these are the newest versions and are updated, if any of these will conflict with eachother can you please tell me.

First I ran Disk Cleanup and Disk Defrag, then I ran a complete search with Norton Antivirus finding nothing, I ran a Trendmicro Housecall findingnothing, I ran Ad-aware finding a few things including winfixer but it never removes it because when I scan again it's still there, I ran Spybot and it found a lot more including winfixer but it can't remove it either, I ran TrojanHunter finding nothing, I ran cwshredder finding vx2.look2me and it says it removed it but it's there every time I scan, ewido keeps finding an infection Trojan.Crypt.o in this file mlljj.dll but when I clean it it doesn’t go away and I get the alert again of the same file.

Welcome to GTG.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Please download VundoFix.exe at http://www.atribune....ds/VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

* Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files.
* After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key (or F5 in some machines) until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
* Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
* Please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):

C:\WINDOWS\system32\mlljj.dll

* Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
* When asked for a second path, enter -> C:\WINDOWS\system32\jjllm.*
* Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
* The fix will run then HijackThis will open.
* In HijackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:

O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {52B1DFC7-AAFC-4362-B103-868B0683C697} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\mlljj.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: mlljj - C:\WINDOWS\system32\mlljj.dll

* After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis and Press any key to Force a reboot of your computer.
* Pressing any key will cause a 'Blue Screen of Death' this is normal, do not worry!
* Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.

Download and install CleanUp! http://www.greyknigh...spy/CleanUp.exe

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click 'Options...'
Move the arrow down to 'Custom CleanUp!'
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):

* Empty Recycle Bins
* Delete Cookies
* Delete Prefetch files
* Cleanup! All Users

Click OK. Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.
It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

Then, please run an online virus scan at ActiveScan http://www.pandasoft.../activescan.htm

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HijackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

I followed the direction but when the blue screen came up it didn't reboot, it said fatal system error and something about a file called 000000x000000000 or something like that. I waited 5 min and then I just manually rebooted it by holding down the power button. When I started my computer up my computer was in classic windows theme and spybot detected a registry change called userfaultcheck and I allowed it in case it was important. A few minutes after rebooting I got a pop up from fastclick.net. I'll have to wait and see if the winfixer and explorer.exe problems went away. Was the explorer.exe problem caused by winfixer? Thank you for your help.

Can't say for sure...it could be related to winfixer...

Can you change your theme back to XP Style (right click on your Desktop and go to Properties->Appearance and under the first drop down box, choose Windows XP style.

Your log is clean.

To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Tutorial and use the tools provided.

Are there any problems now? If not, you should be set to go.

I think there is something wrong with cwshredder because when I logged back in it said something about not finding a file for cwshredder. Also cwshredder wasn't able to remove that file I mentioned before. How do I uninstall it, It is not in the add/remove list.

Download it again and try running it. What file is missing (not finding a file)? Does it still find that file anymore? It shouldn't.

Sorry for the wait, I've been really busy with school. Ya thanks again for everything it's working great. I was able to delete cwshredder and downloaded it again but it still gives me weird messeges at log in. I don't really need it right now, plus it wasn't able to remove the look2me thing so I don't think it's even that great. If I find any cws things on spybot or adaware that i can't get rid of then I'll try and figure it out.

But I have another problem, it might be realted so I don't want to make a new thread. Now whenever I open AIM I get a runtime error: Line 13 Error: "adsD" is undefined. I didn't delete anything other than what you told me to on the hijackthis log. When I try to debug it doesn't respond and I have to close it. AIM runs fine as far as I can tell but I was just wondering if that was an imprtant file.

CWShredder is useful. It's not 100% perfect (just like Ad-aware and Spybot). So it has its limits and Look2Me requires other tools to remove it.

Delete it again and see if this will fix up the problem (this might not work, but give it a try...at least fix it in HijackThis even if the other two steps won't work):

Go to Start->Run and type in notepad and hit OK. Then copy and paste the following into Notepad:

sc stop CWShredder Service - InterMute, Inc.
sc delete CWShredder Service - InterMute, Inc.
del delete.bat

Save the file as "delete.bat". Make sure to save it with the quotes. Double click on it.

Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc Tools->Delete an NT service and type in CWShredder Service - InterMute, Inc. and hit OK.

Check and fix this in HjackThis:

O23 - Service: CWShredder Service - InterMute, Inc. - C:\Documents and Settings\Ahmad Wael Faqih\Desktop\cwshredder.exe

Download CWShredder here and give that a try.

If that still won't fix it, send an email to InterMute.

For the AIM problem, try uninstalling it, restart and reinstalling it back.

Any other problems now before I close this topic.
