Hi S.T.P...

Click Start then Control Panel and double click the "System" icon. Under the "Advanced" tab, click the "Settings" button in the "Performance" box. Under "Visual Effects", put a tick in the box next to "Let Windows choose what's best for my computer", Apply the Changes and click "Ok".

Did that get you what you wanted?

Hey S.T.P...

When you followed the instructions in my last post, was the button already checked when you got there? If yes, try selecting "Adjust for best appearance"..."Apply" the change, and click "Ok".

Have you installed any custom themes or shells into the system, or any screensaver programs?

If that doesn't work, go here and download iconoid. This program is free and will allow you to change the background color of icons.
