Hi,

I have a wierd one here. Al of a suddenout of the blue when I launched Excel I got the error "Unable to Read file" That was apparently the start up file.

Any other spreadsheet I tried to open got the same error!

I did seach of knowledge base and most of the referanceces didn't fit or or were quite old. I tried a number of the suggestions, including getting rid of everything in the excell start up directory, of which there was only one file in it.

So I figured I'd Re-install, HA!

I put in my Office 2k Premium disk and ran the setup onit and got:

"The installation source for this product is not available.
Verify that the source exists and that you can access it."

I even tried copying the cd to the hd, same thing???

I'm a programmer and use excell mainly for data maniplulation or small spreadsheets, Keeping track of costs, that sort of thing.

At my wits end I needed to edit several spread sheets, so I downloaded OpenOffice Org. It works fine.

Also I have no idea why but there is no un-install for office in controll panel or program group.

The major thing I worried about is Acccess, The multi national organization I work for has it's membership program running in Access.

Thanks!
