toolbar.desktop traffic registry keys found

I found the following keys after an exhaustive key by key search trying to eliminate the xlime...etc webpage popups i keep getting.

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-3464801429-431655908-189323443-1006\Software\_dsktptr\kkws

Under this key there are lots of names listed like aceshigh, airline travel, adultfriendfinder, bannerzapper, plus many many more and a number under the data colum.

under this one there are 100 toolbar.desktoptraffic.net sites

I ran ad-aware it detected problems. some could not be deleted.
I then safebooted and ran norton antivirus. and then manually deleted some additional files and followed the instructions for deleting entries for "adware.IEPlugin" in the registry and unregistering a couple of dll's

Question. :tazz:

Should I delete these keys from the root?
Should I leave the root key and delete all the sites and other entries?

Does this mean I'm, still infected? :cheers:

I ran hijack this back on 12/14 I wasn't sure if this is the right place to include that losg and the log from my scan today.

Im not an expert at all in anyof this, in fact im just trying to figure it out on my own and realize i need expert help. I w9ill probably switch browsers after, if, I fix this. This happened on my old system and I got so frustrated I ended up saving my personal files and formating the Hard drive for a full re-install.
I don't want to do that with this system its basically brand new

The popups seem to have stopped, but I think somethning is still there.

BTW, I also ran ad-aware (updated) prior to the virus scans. With your instructions I found items that had been missed on prior scans.

I had Hijackthis remove the items you identified and I am including the log below.
I ran ad-adware and it comes up clean. Norton comes clean as well.

BUT

The registry entries I mentioned in my first post are still there.
I also found two others:

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-3464801429-431655908-189323443-1006\Software\aaa_soft\pppp

this has the same entries as the key previously listed under
HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-3464801429-431655908-189323443-1006\Software\_dsktptr\ppops

The other Key is:

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-3464801429-431655908-189323443-1006\Software\LocalNRD

This seems to relate to a file that was included in an entry that came up on the Hijackthis log I previously posted. There are 30 names listed in this entry and a variety of types of data information (some in what looks like unrecognized foreign language fonts)

What should I do about this??
Will deleting them harm my system?
If the refered to files are gone, are these still a danger? or are they a danger at all
just dead registry entries?

The registry entries you found are form another useraccount.
The safest way to remove them is to scan logged in as that user.

I loggesd in as that user scanned and found no problem.

BUT when I logged into that account something strange was on the desktop a search icon titled "&search"
I ran ad-aware found nothing

BUT when i logged back into my own account i found the keys i had deleted in hijackthis WERE BACK !!! :tazz:

Click Here download the latest version of Hijack This (1.99). It's better able to catch the latest threats.

Yes, I would uninstall teatimer. Run hijack this again and get rid of these.
