hey Guys,

For some reason ewido keeps popping up and saying that kbold.dll is donig something funky, and it classifies it as Trojan.agent.cs.

I'm getting kinda worried, cuz everytime I run a scan, Ewido says that kbold.dll is a Trojan downloader, and I'm not able to delete; some program is always running it.

I did what you said, though I'm kinda uncertain about the purpose of uploading the file. My only guess is that the site you directed me towards has people who are capable of analyzing unknown files and determining what actions they perform.

Anyway, I reran the hijack log and fixed the items you asked me to.
Two items were missing:

O2 - BHO: Viewpoint Toolbar BHO - {A7327C09-B521-4EDB-8509-7D2660C9EC98} - C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Toolbar\ViewBarBHO.dll

and

O8 - Extra context menu item: &Viewpoint Search - res://C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\Viewpoint Toolbar\ViewBar.dll/CXTSEARCH.HTML

I believe that these were missing because I uninstalled Viewpoint as you recommended.

I'm still getting the kbole alerts from ewido, but that's to be expected as, from the hijack log it's still there.

Thanks for the file, nathan.

You guessed correct about the site. We use it as a portal to submit new files to the anti-spyware and anti-virus scanners.

Now for the hard part.
Please print these instructions out for use in Safe Mode.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files
This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.
After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
You will first be presented with a warning.
It should look like this

VundoFix V2.13 by Atri
By using VundoFix you agree that you are doing so at your own risk
Press enter to continue....
At this point press enter one time.
Next you will see:

Type in the filepath as instructed by the forum staff
Then Press Enter, Then F6, Then Enter Again to continue with the fix.
At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):
- C:\WINDOWS\addins\kbole.dll
Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
Next you will see:

Please type in the second filepath as instructed by the forum staff
Then Press Enter, Then F6, Then Enter Again to continue with the fix.
At this point please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):C:\WINDOWS\addins\elobk.*
This will be the vundo filename spelt backwards. for example if the vundo dll was vundo.dll you would have the user enter odnuv.*
Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
The fix will run then HijackThis will open.
In HiJackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:enter hjt items here
After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis and Press any key to Force a reboot of your computer.
Pressing any key will cause a "Blue Screen of Death" this is normal, do not worry!
Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.

Download and install CleanUp!

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):

Empty Recycle Bins
Delete Cookies
Delete Prefetch files
Cleanup! All Users

Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

Then, please run this online virus scan: ActiveScan

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

Post back with a new HijackThis log. We will have to take care of the file you submitted. At first glance it looks like spyware.

I'll know more when we "meet" next time.

Ok...I did most of what you asked me to.

I went into safe mood and ran the Vundo Fix, but when it came time to fix things on HJT, I think you may have forgotten what items for me to select, because none were listed. I ended up selecting none.

I did run Cleanup!, and I tried the Active X scanning, but for some reason my computer would always freeze when it got a couple files in.

Good job. As you may have seen on TheSpykiller we now have a pretty good idea what your file does and that we should get rid of it.

I didn't forget to list the thing to select. I forgot to take out that part because I wnated to save it till later. (now)

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

Download: DelDomains.inf
Should the link above display the text instead of downloading the file, then copy & paste the text into notepad and save the file as DellDomains.inf
To use: right-click and select: Install
Note: This will remove all entries in the "Trusted Zone" and "Ranges" also.

Then reboot and post a new HijackThis log.

Btw, should I keep trying to use the Active X virus scan? Maybe it was just loading, and not actually freezing up, but my computer seemed pretty unresponsive to me. ..

Hmm. One more thing we should take care off.

Click Start > Run type services.msc > OK
In the list of services find:
Windows VisFx Components
Rightclick that line and choose Properties.
On the General tab Stop and set the service to disabled.
In HijackThis click Config > Misc Tools > Delete an NT service
In the dialog box paste: Windows VisFx Components

Then reboot. Check if the file C:\WINDOWS\eymvsvc.exe is really missing.
If it exists delete it, because it is a Worm.

I'm not having any obvious problems anymore.

Thanx Pieter, I'm still a bit worried, because when I open up the task manager, there's a lot of svchost, and I know that is a program that virus often try to hide themselves as. No real problems in terms of functioning, but I'm a bit paranoid.
