Anyways, this girl I know, totally f---ed up her computer by clicking on a random link to a jpeg file(big NO NO) in an AIM conversation. Anyways, I tried a bunch of stuff, and got rid of most of it, but theres still one toolbar left, and I'm thinking theres still some parts of half deleted spyware. Heres her hijackthis log.

Hello,

First of all, download and use this AIMfix:
http://www.jayloden.com/aimfix.htm

Close all open programs, including AIM and doubleclick AIMfix.exe
This will delete related files and related entries in the registry.

Reboot afterwards.

After reboot..

Please download LQfix.exe and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-Click LQfix.exe and click Next > Next > Install.
  • Leave the default settings, if you change them, the fix will Fail!
  • You need an active internetconnection, so make sure your you're not blocking any connection now.
  • Now make sure the "Launch LQfix" box is checked.
  • Click the Finish button, after clicking the Finish button the fix will start.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts.
  • Your system will reboot afterwards.
  • Please be patient after the reboot, there is a script running in the background that needs to complete.
Then do a scan with HJT and post a new log by using Add Reply

There's still some other stuff that needs to go though, but we'll deal with that afterwards :tazz:

Ok, heres the hijackthis log. thanks alot man, i really appreciate it. Btw, theres another person near me who got this same thing from the person whose computer I'm fixing. Would it be ok to run the same fixes on his computer as well(assuming of course, that his hijackthis log file is similar)? Or should I start another post?

Hi, almost there, but not finished yet.

* Please set your system to show all files; please see here if you're unsure how to do this. !! Important step otherwise you won't find some files !!

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer,SearchURL = http://www.search123forme.com/sp2.php
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://www.search123forme.com/sp2.php
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://www.search123forme.com/sp2.php
O2 - BHO: Internet Explorer Web Content Catcher - {FFF4E223-7019-4ce7-BE03-D7D3C8CCE884} - C:\Program Files\DNS\Catcher.dll
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [DNS] C:\Program Files\Common Files\mc-110-12-0000080.exe
O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE
O9 - Extra button: Freeprod Toolbar - {77FBF9B8-1D37-4FF2-9CED-192D8E3ABA6F} - C:\Program Files\Freeprod Toolbar\freeprod.dll (file missing)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Freeprod Toolbar - {77FBF9B8-1D37-4FF2-9CED-192D8E3ABA6F} - C:\Program Files\Freeprod Toolbar\freeprod.dll (file missing)

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.

* Reboot into Safe Mode`: ( without networking support !)
°To get into the Safe mode as the computer is booting press and hold your "F8 Key". Use your arrow keys to move to "Safe Mode" and press your Enter key.

* Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them if still present:

C:\Program Files\DNS <== folder
C:\Program Files\Common Files\mc-110-12-0000080.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Inetget
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Inetget2
C:\Program Files\Common Files\services.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\system32.dll
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows\mc-110-12-0000080.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows\AutoIt3.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows\services32.exe
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Windows\request.html

reboot back to normal mode and post a new hijackthislog. :tazz:

ok heres my updated hijackthis logfile. I looked for the two mc-110-12-000080.exe files, but I was unable to find them. I searched for them, and I found two copies in different directories, but I didn't touch them. Should I delete them or let them be?

Hi,

I see a clean hijackthisog:

I looked for the two mc-110-12-000080.exe files, but I was unable to find them. I searched for them, and I found two copies in different directories, but I didn't touch them. Should I delete them or let them be?

Did you unhide your hidden files and folders, as well as your systemfiles? Because two of them are a hidden systemfile.

* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

Also, can you tell me in what folder the other ones are present?
Do they have exactly the same name?

You're welcome.

Can you check if mc-110-12-000080.exe is also present in your System32-folder? If so, delete it, because in some cases it's present there as well. :tazz:

How are things running now?
Can you also post a new hijackthislog to make sure everything is gone?
