That was way too fast...SP2 alone is over 90MB...try the update site again and make sure ALL critical updates are installed. Once the OS is where it needs to be, we can work on speeding it up.

Please post me a fresh SysSpec log.

Then Click Start and point to All Programs then to Accessories, then to System Tools and run Disk Cleanup...then run Disk Defragmenter (This one will take a while if you haven't defragged in a while). Reboot and see how your machine is running.

Download Cleanup, install it and run it.

Let me know how it goes...

Internet Explorer: 6.0.2900.2180

That looks better!! :tazz:

Another stick of RAM would give you a noticeable performance increase...382MB is not a lot of RAM these days...put in another 512MB (if your machine will support that much) and you'd be moving along pretty good.

What are you running for Anti Virus protection? I didn't see anything in the log for AV (course, my eyes aren't as sharp as they once were :) ) If you haven't got anything, might I suggest AVAST...it's free and works very well.

You can uninstall the Sygate Firwall now and just use the Windows Firewall...you only need one running.

Click Start then Run and type msconfig and click "Ok". Click the "Startup" tab, and post me a screenshot of the window.

Download AdAware, install it, update it, and run it. Run this at least once a week.

I'm going to recommend that you take a trip through the G2G Malware Forum. Just follow the steps listed on the page from the link, particularly those on the Start Here link at the top of the page. This can help you clear most of your problems by yourself. If you still have problems after that, post a HiJackThis log there for the specialists to work with. Keep in mind that they are very busy in this forum and it may be a few days before they get to you...be patient.

RAM or Random Access Memory is what your machine actually runs on. The more you have on your machine, the faster and smoother applications will run.

Can you define "some sort of freak freeze thing"...did the system hang or was it an application error. Click Start then Run and type eventvwr.msc...click on "System" in the left pane and make note of any red circles in the right pane that happened at or near the time of your freak freeze thing. Post that info here, please.
