I currently have Norton Antivirus 2003 version 9.05.15, but im having alot of problems with my computer

i also have spybot search and destroy 1.3 1TX with all the current updates, Ad-Aware SE Personal Build 1.06r1 and cleanup version 4.0

i have run everything and i still have problems... my computer freezes up all the time....also a dial-up menu keeps popping up randomly and i think i have something running in the background but im not sure what

i was just wondering what you guys thought....is AVG worth a shot....or is there something else i should try???

Howdy and welcome to G2G:

A firewall may come in handy.. Sygate and Zone Alarm both make very good free versions..

Either one will do.. Just make sure you get the freebie version..

What it will do is tell you WHAT is trying to access the net.. We can go from there - it may be a legit program or it could be malware!!

Well there ya go.. as for your av, ACG does carry a smaller foot-print (doesn't use a much in the way of resources) and does a good job. I know of many people that use it on all their home systems with very good results..

It's really a matter of choice and personal prefernce....
