I aquired a computer with a pirated version of windows xp, but I am unable to remove it!! Can anyone help??
I have the original Windows ME recovery disc, but this will not allow me to recover from it!!
Is there any way to remove windows xp so that I can do so!!

what you can do is boot with a 98 or me bootup disk and format your hard drive at the a: after booting with disk type format c:

There is no other way to remove windows xp except to use a utility called delpart. This program will destroy selected partitions, so be ready to use a dos program called fdisk to redo the hard drive. After that you must format the disk and reinstall the system. Your recovery disk will not work since it is an oem for that particular machine. I have a link that you can go to to obtain Lindows 4.5, which is a combination of windows and linux, and acts just like windows xp. The only difference is it will run linux and windows based programs. It should not be more than $60.

Go to www.walmart.com or www.lindows.com to purchase. <_<
