It isn't really but you are doing it the way Dell requires it to be done..  One more good reason to stay as far away from "branded" systems as you can !!

Yeah, I make sure both our pressed, and then I release both of them. When should I release them? I've been releasing them about a half second after they are both pressed down.

Let me try one more time.

Crap, I had my cd in so it tried to load that up. One more time.

yeah, didn't work.

Strongly suggest you start reading and printing out..

"How Do I Install the Microsoft® Windows® XP Operating System on My Dell™ Desktop or Portable Computer?"

or, call the vaunted Dell HelpLine and get them to step you through it !!

It was as of last night, don't know if it resets itself, but I was trying to follow the guide you just gave me and I threw the CD back in, restarted and it did not load it up, so I am assuming no.

omfuggle. I am <3 you guys. so many things to do now. I know there is a link somewhere on here to all of the programs as far as AVG, but I'm going to do some offline things before I hook up to the internet. What are some protective things I can download asap?

Yeah, just kinda sucks that I lost everything, but oh well.

What firewall do you recomend? I play two battle.net games so firewalls often interfear with those( if you have any idea what battle.net is. =/)

Also, I'm getting a little beep sound evertime I'd hear a noise(SOmeone logs onto aim, or I send a message, etc). Do I have to load a driver for that?
