Wanted to check in to say that the computer seems to be working fine now. I so appreciate your help.

I am trying to figure out how to download SP2, and I will eventually. I'm stuck with the windows authentication process -- not sure i can get my hands on the original windows CDs for this machine -- they are probablty still at the company I have long since left. So I'll figure that out ..

But mostly -- I want to say thank you for getting me through. I greatly appreciate it.

You don't need the windows CDs to download SP2. Is it a legal version of windows?

Yes -- it is a legal version of windows. And yes, I realized later that I didn't need the CDs. I now have SP2 installed. All is well. Thanks.
