I run Windows XP Pro edition and Office 2003. After downloading and installing the latest updates for XP and Office from Microsoft my Classic theme settings for Sounds and Desktop Appearance default to Windows XP standard settings. No matter how many times I change them and save the settings when I reboot Windows loads with the XP defaults. In fact, the main appearance theme I had created disappeared. I am quite familiar with how to create different themes and save them so I know my technique is not the issue. I suspect a corrupted registry entry but do not know where in the registry this would be or what to change the entry to if I am able to find it. Can anyone help?

Welcome to Geeks to Go! :tazz:

Try the system file checker. Put your XP CD in then go to the Start Menu and click Run. Then, type sfc /scannow and wait until it is finished, then restart (you may want to take out your XP CD first).
