Ok I just rebooted it. The cable is plugged into the computer and it felt like it was plugged into the wireless router(I gave it a slight tugg. Plus this laptop is getting internet so that means it plugged in right?)
now what?

Let's check and make sure that you have the right settings for your Network card installed. Click START--SETTINGS-->CONTROL PANEL. Double click NETWORK. What is listed under 'The following network components are installed' heading in the CONFIGURATION TAB?

Well I'm off to bed for the night, so if I don't respond in a timely fashion that's why.

Hey Gibbs1,

Go HERE and click on the link that says: Checking/Renewing the IP Address (Windows 95/98/ME) . It is a tutorial on setting up Windows 98 to connect to Road Runner. Make sure you can hear audio when playing it since there is a person speaking in the background while it is playing.

Thanks but I still have an issue when I get to the step after you type in winipcfg in the run window. The IP Config box opens but there is only 1 option in the drop down menue thing and renew and release are still greyed out. To complete that thing on RR.com you have to select the correct adapter and the release and renew but I cant select the correct one. The only adapter listed there is the PPP adapter. Isnt the adapter Im supposed to use the RealTek thing? If it is what do I do? Is there someway to get the RealTek adapter to show up on that drop down menu?
Thank you soo much for your help and that link!! :tazz:
