Lap Top Been Extremly Slow

Good evening Trevuren,

First of all thanks to you for being passionateon helping me.

I have follow your instruction.

After rebooting the Start Up Menu there is some changes but my lap top still very slow:-

At the start (Black Screen) Indicating on the top left hand side.
INVALID FILE
BOOTHING FROM C DRIVE

It took slightly better/faster from the startup menu to log in screen (From the black screen XP to Blue screen with the log in icon)

From log in screen to desk top setting also still slow.

The sound of the start up also still giving that funny sound.

When opening the internet also still slow but when I alreay connected I can surf as normal (fast).

To open the programme such as Excel, Word and others still very slow.

System keep on promting "Window Updater" and Norton Anti Virus 2005 Does Not Support The Repair Feature. Please UNINSTALL & INSTALL"

There is still virus ADWARE.ZENOSEARCH apearing.

1. The sound that your computer makes is out of my domain. That is a probable hardware problem that needs looking at. I cannot fix hardware.

2. There is no "Uninstall/Install" feature in Norton. You uninstall the program through Add/Remove Programs and when it is finished, you einstall it and immediately update all your definitions. You will need the Norton disc to do this.. Do not be connected to the internet when you uninstall/Install.

3. PLease:

Please follow the instructions provided, you may want to print out these instructions and use them as a reference.
  • Please download ewido security suite it is a trial version of the program.
    • Install ewido security suite
    • When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
    • Launch ewido, there should be an icon on your desktop double-click it.
    • The program will prompt you to update click the OK button
    • The program will now go to the main screen
  • You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
    • On the left hand side of the main screen click update
    • Click on Start
    • The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
  • Once the updates are installed do the following:
    • REBOOT into Safe Mode
    • Run EWIDO
    • Click on scanner
    • Click on Start Scan
    • Let the program scan the machine
    • While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OK
  • Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report
    • Click Save report
    • Save the report to your desktop
  • Reboot your machine and post back a new HJT log and the ewido .txt log file you saved by using Add Reply

No there none....It goes straight to XP.....

To settle all this problem can I uninstall XP and instal it again...(what will happend to all my document?)

I just bought a new XP Home

My previous software I think left it in my country or
may be the retailer do not give it to me.

When I try to update Microsoft Update indicating that my XP already been used by other PC.

Whay is that...did I been cheated by the retailer who sold this Brand New "ASUS" lap top to me.... How can I check whether all the software in my lap top are ORIGINAL...

If you have an illegal copy of the operating system then there is a strong possibility that the other software is also "illegal". If you reinstall the same Windows version, you will get the same message from Microsoft about updates. If you bought XP Home then I would recommend that you backup all your important files, reformat your drive, and install XPHOME.
