HELP!!! have the dreaded winfixer, from the norton antivirus renewal page no less, I have done all of the steps in the first timers page except the shredder, it wouldnt work. the only program that picks it up is AOL spyware protection.Please help me, thanks.

Hi dragontamertin and welcome to the Geeks to Go Forums.

A. Go to Geeks to Go
. Click on My Controls at the top right hand corner of the window. (make sure you have signed in first)
. In the left hand column, click "View Topics"
. If you click on the title of your post, you will be taken there

B. Also, while at the My Controls page, check the box to the right of your post and then scroll down.
.Where it says "unsubscribe" click the pull-down menu and select "immediate email notification"

C. Please update Ewido's definitions then run it in SAFE MODE

D. Post the resulting Ewido log and a new HJT log into your reply.

hi, I think most of it is gone, except i am still gettin pop ups telling me my system is infected or that control of my system has been gained and sendind out information. I am also still getting redirected to the sites that will remove viruses, as in to the winfixer.com site. Each program i run picks up another adware or spy program, but not the winfixer file that AOL spyware protection picks up. Wish i knew what else to give you , but i dont know a whole lot about this kind of stuff, just that it's not good.

1. Please disable Ad-Watch

2. Please run Ewido in Safe Mode after updating its definition.

3. REBOOT

4. Please post the Ewido log along with any comments about improvement/deterioration of malware problem
