Hello and welcome to GeeksToGo! My name is Kat, and I will be helping you get your computer fixed back up and on the go! You should either print these instructions, or save them to a Notepad file on your desktop. Part of the fix may require you to be in Safe Mode, and you will be unable to access the internet at that time!

Please go Here and download the newest version of HijackThis 1.99.1. Please be sure to save it to a permanent directory, such as C:\Prgram Files\HJT.

Double click to open and click "Do a system scan and save a logfile". HijackThis will scan your computer (only takes a few seconds) and then Notepad will automatically open with the log. Please copy and paste the entire contents of the log here using the Add Reply button.

Don't worry, we'll get you fixed up! :tazz:

Hello again Jessivea. I know how frustrating this is, believe me. When I originally joined this Fight, I was infected as badly as you are. Yes, you have some pretty serious issues on there, but if you hang in there with us and be patient...we WILL get you all cleaned up!

1. First of all, please move HijackThis into a permanent directory, such as C:\HJT. You can do this by right click and moving it. You should not run HijackThis from the desktop, as the backups it creates will litter your desktop.

2. Are you running your McAfee firewall? It is not showing in your running processes, and neither is your Anti-VIrus. If you disabled them, please ENABLE them immediately.

3. Please run an on-line virus scan at TrendMicro

4. After that one is finished, please go to ActiveScan Be sure to save the log from the Active Scan to your computer.

5. Please download the free trial version of Trojan Hunter Install this, and manually update it, then run it.

6. After you have run these, please make a reply here and post a new HijackThis log, along with the answer to the Firewall/AV question. Also please post me the ActiveSCan log, and any other you get from other scans. :tazz:

:tazz: You'll need to be patient. All of here are volunteers. I am starting you off with some scans that will get you partially cleaned up. Then tomorrow, one of our Staff Experts, Bobbi_Flekman will be taking over to get you thoroughly cleaned.

Ridding a computer as crippled with Malware as yours is is NOT a fast process. :) It will take a couple of days, most likely, for everything to be removed and get you into good shape.

Try ZoneAlarm or Sygate You must get one of these downloaded and installed before Bobbi will help you further. If you don't, you are at serious risk for even more infection. Both of these firewalls are free, and easy to use.

Also, if you don't have a current Anti Virus running, try AVG It is free also, and very good.

You need to get these downloaded and installed before you post your next HijackThis log.

And on every page on the internet it has little green links that open popups, saying at the bottom sponsored link, any idea what that might be?

And again, what does that specific type of malware do?

Those are from the CoolWebSearch infection you have.

And again, what does that specific type of malware do?

View Post

*which*?? YOu have several infections on that machine. Nail (causes popups and steals information about your surfing habits), CoolWebSearch (redirects your home page or searches), WinTools, Toolbar, many random viruses and trojans which I don't even KNOW what they might be doing since they are random, YourSiteBar, WebSpecials....tons more. :) :tazz:

There is no reference in your log to something called "new Malware.U". This may be something hidden in your registry we will have to dig out, or it could be something new. Therefore, I cannot tell you at this point what exactly it's doing. Please run the scans, get me those logs, and get a Firewall and Anti Virus :)

Do you want help cleaning this computer up? Just quarantining them doesn't remove the problems from your computer. That computer may very well have keyloggers on it, or any other number of things that can allow hackers to steal your information.
If you want our help, please follow the instructions given so far, and then let Bobbi Flekman finish getting you cleaned.

If you don't want help, and just wanted to know what something was, please let me know that so I can close this thread, and we can continue working to help others. :tazz:
