This happens during the virus scan on Email. The box for the scan seems to seperate and flicker. t does not happen every Email. But when it does the system crashes,I try to use control,alt, delete sometimes I get a message that states"your resources are critical"

What email client and av program are you using??

The only way to keep System Resources up is to limit the number of programs you open or have opening with Windows at any given time.. If they fall too low, you get what you have been getting and the only real cure for that is a reboot to free them back up !!

Hi, if you are not sure re. Start up ....

The only applications that you need running are:

Scan Registry.
System Tray.
State Mgr.
Anti Virus Program.
Firewall.. plus any that you want from choice.

Go to Start > Run > type in msconfig > Startup.

Uncheck the items that you do not want / need. Click Apply - Ok. You will need to reboot.
