opera problems

Hi,
I downloaded Opera and then I opened it. The I typed in www.google.co.uk in the address bar and clicked enter (return). After I did this, nothing happened and I tried other sites and nothing happened.

I don't know why this is happening.

I had Opera before and I prefered it to Internet explorer, and then it said a new version of opera was available so i downloaded that and thats when this problem stared. My previous version was running fine until i got the newer version. The version that doesnt work it 8.5

I'd love some help!
