Just as I was afraid of, and it didn't take but a few hours. I was just scanning the computer with Ad-Aware and up pops the PUP with msclock32.dll. This is driving me crazy.

Then run through this process one more time.


Start the Brute Force Uninstaller, that you downloaded before, by doubleclicking BFU.exe

In the scriptline to execute copy and paste c:\bfu\EGDACCESS.bfu
Press execute and let it do it’s job.

Wait for the complete script execution box to popup and press OK.
Press exit to terminate the BFU program.



That should take care of it for you, but we've been there before. Let me know.

Ok, I uninstalled mailskinner, ran BFU and also ran McAfee which found the msclock32.dll and msplock32.dll files and was able to delete both of them. We'll see what happens. Thanks.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, but this should do it once and for all.

msclock32.dll and msplock32.dll haven't shown back up. But earlier today I had a PUP with the long File Path I had mentioned before, C:\System Volume Information\_restore{3DBD88D2-9FFC-498BA689:A4771362F918}\RP10.

When I clicked on more info, the Program Name is the same as it showed for the msclock file, which was Adware-NaviPromo. I chose to delete it and it said File: A0001491.dll was deleted.

A short time ago I did a full McAfee scan and it didn't turn up anything. I did a spybot scan and then an Ad-Aware scan. I was busy doing other things and when I returned to the computer the Ad-Aware scan was completed and the McAfee PUP window had shown up again with the same long File Path, C:\System Volume Information\_restore{3DBD88D2-9FFC-498BA689:A4771362F918}\RP10.

Once again, the program name is Adware-NaviPromo and McAfee deleted it showing the file that was deleted as: A0001492.dll.

At least I'm able to delete these but with the PUP showing the same program name, is this still related to the msclock32.dll?

These are just system restore files, but they are infected. Disable system restore and that will flush out any infected system restore files. Then turn it back on and set a new clean restore point.
