Hi Geeks,

This is probably a very easy question for all of you genius'* but is there any programme that i can use to "slightly" compress a video file i have? It is a collection of recordings i've done for college and it comes to 708 Mb. I need to convert it to a VCD file and I don't really want to cut any footage as i need it. I just need to drop it to 700Mb so it can fit on a CD. I am prepared to drop the quality slightly but it needs to look good as it is very fast moving.

If there is a programme, How do i use it? I have Nero if that helps but i've only got it recently and I haven't fully used it. Does any part of Nero know how to help me?

Many thanks,
Noobsaibot21

What is the programmes you have edited it on?
Moviemaker has a seting for saving to a recordable CD which can adjust the size of the movie to fit available space. InterVideo Video Decoder might be useful too. Check what settings you have used in Movie maker. Best quality for playback on computer takes up a lot of space. You can change options to suit. But it would still be the best if you can trim the movie to fit, as that will give you everything in best quality.

Ulead DVD Movie Factory will convert it to VCD to fit on a CD, either way its going to have bad quality (macro blocking).

I don't know if Nero will do it (been too busy to check at home), but You can try what I would have done:
Go to all the settings you find in search of something that says video quality or resolution or compression(rare). Fiddle with those settings to see if they can make your output lighter.
This goes for everything you use to write a CD/DVD
If you can tell me the software you used for editing, perhaps I could help better.
