Computer makes a lot of fan noise

You can hear it across the room sometimes. But it always has noise which is louder than normal. It just started doing that past few days and this is a relatively new Dell PC. Dimension 8300 about year and half old.

When was the last time it was opened up and shot with compressed air to blow off the dust that collects on electrical and mechanical componets over time?

Which fan is it? Case fan or CPU or the one on the video card? Most the time they are inexpensive and easy to replace if they need to be.
