I am really stupid with computers. Did all your start here before posting logs and found at least 300 infected files. However, computer is still horribly slow and seems to be running many .exe files that I do not recognise at all and when I do searchs on their names am told it's virus or spyware that still have not been removed. Thank you for your help. I must admit I am still struggling with your website a bit on how to access your replies and post my new logs (that's how dopey I am).

I have removed the new.net as you suggested. However, I am experiencing problems that my computer now won't close properly, I end up having to switch it off at the mains. It hangs on logging off. Hi There

There are a few things going on here, but they are all fixable. We need to set you up to run HJT properly first, so -

Important: Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it HJT.
Unzip HijackThis into this folder. Please delete the old copy (including the zip copy) so it can't be used.

Also, when you post a HJT log, I need the Header information too (the bit above the running Processes).




Ok Then - lets make a start here and get rid of "New.net"


First, Download LSPFix.exe to a convenient location. Do NOT run this program. This is only to be used if you lose Internet Access after removing NewDotNet.

To Get rid of NewDotNet, go to:

Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and remove the following:

New.Net Applications or New.Net Domains (anything that says New.Net)

If it is not there, go here and follow Procedure 4: NewDotNet Removal Procedure 4.

In the event that you lose Internet access after removing New.Net, please double-click LSPFix.exe that you downloaded earlier. Check the "I know what I'm doing" button. You will see 2 panels. If there is any file listed in the "Remove" panel on the right-side, leave it as is and just click "Finish>>" then reboot your computer and you should now have access to the Internet. If nothing is listed under the "Remove Panel", do NOT do anything - just close the program. You will need to use another computer to come back here for further instructions on what to do.


Once you have done this, please post a new HJT log here for me.

Thanks for your fast response. My computer wouldn't start up after safe mode without goinginto last know configuration. Does this mean that everything I have removed will now be back. Also the computer when it did start up was at really really snails pace. I then received a microsoft pop up saying the computer had recovered from a really serious error (I have had this message several times before). Anyway look foward to hearing what to do next and whether I have to do the Sweep again as a result of the above. Many thanks Angie

Hi There

Please print out these instructions for reference.

Please download WebRoot SpySweeper from HERE (It's a 2 week trial):

• Click the Free Trial link under to "SpySweeper" to download the program.
• Install it.
• Once the program is installed, it will open.
• It will prompt you to update to the latest definitions, click Yes.
• Once the definitions are installed, reboot into Safe Mode. Reopen Spysweeper, click Sweep Now on the left side.
• Click the Start button.
• When it's done scanning, click the Next button.
• Make sure everything has a check next to it, then click the Next button.
• It will remove all of the items found.
• Click Session Log in the upper right corner, copy everything in that window.
• Click the Summary tab and click Finish.

Just got some pop up message from you. My computer keeps dying with the blue screen of death and messages from Microsft saying it's recovered from serious error. Computer is now hanging all time too. Once I have done the sweep, should I be able to start as normal or do you have to start in last known configuration? I am so grateful for you help and so sorry to be so pathetic in my knowledge!

Okay then - re-ran it and it said no problems - see below.

Also attached the message log about the serious error from Microsoft that I keep getting. When I close my computer I still keep getting the dreaded blue screen!! Anyway all I can say is - I am hanging in there. Look forward to further instructions and thanks again

Check "I know what I'm doing", and then select each instance of winsflt.dll in the left-hand panel and click >> to move it to the right-hand panel.
Then click Finish to allow LSPfix to rebuild the LSP chain.


To Get rid of NewDotNet, go to:

Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and remove the following:

New.Net Applications or New.Net Domains (anything that says New.Net)

If it is not there, go here and follow Procedure 4: NewDotNet Removal Procedure 4.

In the event that you lose Internet access after removing New.Net, please double-click LSPFix.exe that you downloaded earlier. Check the "I know what I'm doing" button. You will see 2 panels. If there is any file listed in the "Remove" panel on the right-side, leave it as is and just click "Finish>>" then reboot your computer and you should now have access to the Internet. If nothing is listed under the "Remove Panel", do NOT do anything - just close the program. You will need to use another computer to come back here for further instructions on what to do.

Reboot the PC and post a fresh Hijack This log please.
