I'm trying to secure our server as aparently it's been used for spamming. I went on MS site and found what I thought was the answer, however what happenned after I made the chage was that we no longer recieved any email.

I reversed what I dod and the emails started to flow again.

Here is what I did:

I went to the properties of the Default Virtual SMTP server.
Went to the Access Tab
Clicked on authentication
and unchecked Anonymous Access. <--------This is the only change I Did

Basic Autentication is checked

Integrated Window Authentication is checked

--------

The Relay button setting:
Only the list below (there is nothing in the list)
Allow computers that successfully authenticate is checked.

So the only change I did is the Anonymous thing.

How can I stop the spammers while allowing us to recieve email?

Thanks

Do you have a firewall? this should stop the problem, I advise you get a ZoneAlarm or Kerio. Both have editions for servers. They are both very good firewalls. I have links in my signature.

Your missed the point, our Exchange Relay is beeing used by spammers. A firewall has nothing to do with it. We do have a firewall, one would be crazy to run a company without one. We have a Sonic. If I blocked the port it wouldn't alow are email in.
