Greetings and salutations. I am among the (many) that has gotten that cursed Vundo Trojan Horse/Virus. Norton identified it with the warning that continuously informs me that it cant gain access to nor fix the infected file (C:\WINDOWS\System32\ddayx.dll)

Of course this message continously pops up no matter what as long as I keep Norton Auto Protect open.

I've tried the symantec removal tool; of course it didn't work. Tried ewido, the cleaner--you name it. I've looked at some sucessful removals in your postings and hoped that you could help. Below, find my Hijack log

Well, I couldn't wait for a reply--my wife uses the computer for work, so I decided to try myself. By looking at all of the others who got this removed with the help of the tech crew, I was able to apply their removal techniques for my problem.....IT WORKED!!!!!!!!! My infected file was C:\WINDOWS\System32\ddayx.dll
It seemed clear that the infection was random in file names. The one thing that threw me a bit was entering the second path name after opening the vundo killer. I looked at a ton of different successful posts before I realized that it was simply the filename BACKWARDS minus the dll extension plus an * :
C:\WINDOWS\System32\xyadd.*

I was, of course, a bit nervous (anything slightly DOS'ish tends to make me sweat a little more), but my computer appears to be Vundo-Free.

Even though my specific problem wasn't addressed--I understand how swamped you guys must be--I want to thank the tech crew at geeks to go. Your helping of others invariably helped me. I can't believe you cats do this for free and out of the goodness of your own hearts; you've renewed my faith in humanity!
