Problems Downloading Windows Update

My computer will not download Windows Updates. This is a recent problem, occuring only in the past two months. While it used to automatically or manually download the updates from Microsoft, it now runs an error. I ordered a CD with the System Pack 2 and did install it, but other updates still continue to have trouble. I have contacted both my manufacturer (Dell) and Microsoft and they referred me to each other. Any suggestions on how I might approach this problem?

What kind of error message are you receiving? That happened to me a lot on my 98. I don't know if this is the "accurate way" to do it, but it was showing up as installed in my add/remove programs box. I removed one via add/remove programs and then downloaded it and installed. Don't know if I just held my tongue just-right when I did it, but that's what worked for me. I wouldn't use it for sp2, but I would see if those individual updates are listed there and see if that would work?
