XP loads then computer restarts and restarts

I reloaded my XP all was fine .. downloaded winrar ... then down loaded AVG Pro ... then my computer restarted and then it restarts over and over.. I don't know what to do.. I think the version or serial numbers must of had a virus or trojan .. I am a beginner and confused .. don't know what to do ...please help
