hey guys,

recently i have been having a problem with my prescott randomly restarting itself. I am unsure if its the vcard, north bridge or psu thats the problem and not sure how to troubleshoot it. When running my computer it restarts at random and "uguru event recorder" records, in //error.txt

Abit will not inform me what the variable 12v referrs to, not sure where its coming from. Occassionly my north bridge and cpu stop working when this error occurs. My monitor turns off and vcard shutsdown leaving my computer running for 30secs or so before shutdown. May be temp problem. Reapplied thermal paste to the south/north bridges, cpu, vcard and heatsinks. underclocked my vcard to prevent crashing seems to work. My case Thermaltake wingo case has bad airflow any tips on airflow, cable management be good aswell. Bios, chipset, vcard drivers are lastest. No irq conflicts

check in your bios, in computer maintenance (or whatever it is called in your bios) and compare actual voltage to the one that should be (you see both). If the difference is more than 10% then you probably have a power supply problem. In the same place you can check cpu temperature.

Hi,

I agree with y.a check you voltages in bios and list them here so we can have a look.
The 12v that ugru referrs to is the 12v rail of the psu but I don't understand the values of 167v or 163v.

Could this be 16.7 and 16.3, if so check them in bios maybe ugru is not working correctly because if there was a overvolt that big it would have fried something.

It could be as simple as uninstalling and reinstalling ugru but check them voltages and make sure you don't have a overvolt.

ok, i tested my ram and it seems fine. CPU temp idle 30*c and on load max 55*c. The voltages for the 12v are set as low limit 9.60v present value 11.45v and high limit 14.40v using as my PSU, Thermaltake Purepower 480W PSU (w/PFC)

shouldnt be be much load on the psu, Also recieving a POST code error of 6.b when this occurs.

From what I read about 0x1000007f the solution might be a repair installation of windows xp and reload of drivers (you will have to this anyway after a repair installation).

It looks like a bad psu, check the 12v from bios again and post it,
List the 12v the 3.3v and 5v

the voltage you listed for atx 12v is 10.65v, is this correct? If it is it is way to low and the cause of your problem. This voltage is the 12V from the psu so if this is accurate I would replace the psu asap.
This also could be why ugru is so messed up and reporting inaccurate readings

I have not tried a reinstall of xp and if i did i am not sure if i would want to use xp again. Been reading on these error codes about Kmixer and a module called NT. I also have an error occuring with my video card

Tested ram with memtest86 all fine, the frequence is at 274mhz and spd rate 4 4 4 12 at 266mhz and 5 4 4 12 at 266mhz changed timming to 5 4 4 12. See what happens

Replace the power supply, its fluctuating and producing low voltages way beyond the normal range on the 12v rail this is no good and most likely the cause of all you problems.

What should i look for when buying a psu? i know that my current load is only 350w.
