Newbie to this, recomended by friend. Followed your directions in Your post Must Read this before posting a Hijack this Log. Will post what I have done, and would appreciate if someone could please help me.
Started out with Counter Spy picking up on the Virtumondo, so went to Nortons web site and followed their directions and downloaed two fix it tools from them, fixit VirtuMonde, ran it and then dowloaded per their directions again a fixit Virutmondo removal tool, and through them and Counterspy's removal it still keeps coming back upon reboot.

A friend then recomended Ewido virus scanner, which I downloaded and it found it also and removed and keeps coming back, it also found another virus called the TROJ_CRYPT.N. Did everything, used Adware SE, Spybot Search and Destroy, which hadn't found anything, as I had deleted via Counter Spy earlier and Ewido.
I have deleted all Temp Files, System Restore is shut off, All Windows Updates are up to date, and of course all programs are up to date on updates, and Nortons of course is picking up nothing.

Also ran Trend Micro and they found the CRYPT virus also. Trend Micro says the TROJ_CRYPT.N is hard to get rid of, they have a removal tool but wasn't to sure on using.

I tried to reboot in safe mode and run the EWIDO program, but it wouldn't open and run for some reason, other programs would.?? I have read other threads, but would rather have a one on one help here, I am not stupid, but am leary about going into the registy by myself, and doing major things, just need things explained very clearly and straight forward.

I have not had any problems with the computer to speak of, no Hi jacking of home web site or anything, but want to avoid major problems. I try not to use IE, have to at times, use SLimbrowser at times, I know it uses the IE inerts so to speak, and also use firefox at times, depending on my research. I like slimbrowser due to its ZOOM in button, I have a hard time seeing sometimes, due to medications.
I did have a few instances of that Win Fix 2005 popping up and starting to download on its own, kept closing buttons and it kept on trying but finally stopped it.. I am also a very cautious person, have a router firewall, software firewall, don't click on hyperlinks anywhere, or open email attachments. Have virus/Nortons Internet Security, came on computer, and also use counterspy, and spybot and adware. Don't know how I got these. Probably on other program installations?

Well, that is all that I can think of at the time. I have saved logs from my scans.
To be honest I also ran a Panda scan, but am so burned out I can't remember what that one said, and Kaperskys, also ran and came up with same ones,, few other smaller ones but they are all gone and haven't come back.

Still would like to know why EWIDO won't run in safe mode?

Oh well, thanks to anyone whom could help. I am afraid at this point to do any online banking or ebay and pay pal stuff, till this is all resolved. Running on Windows XP. Gateway.

Hi,
Have done all prep.'s in your advisory post. Need help just can't do it. Can't run EWIDO in safe mode for some reason. Have copy of logs. My computer does not have a windows xp disc, didn't come with one.

Please try not to post duplicate topics (I merged them) and don't post your email publicly here (spammers lurk here).

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Please download VundoFix.exe at http://www.atribune....ds/VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

* Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files.
* After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key (or F5 in some machines) until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
* Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
* Please type the following file path (make sure to enter it exactly as below!):

C:\WINDOWS\system32\mljgf.dll

* Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
* When asked for a second path, enter -> C:\WINDOWS\system32\fgjlm.*
* Press Enter, then press the F6 key, then press Enter one more time to continue with the fix.
* The fix will run then HijackThis will open.
* In HijackThis, please place a check next to the following items and click FIX CHECKED:

O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {52B1DFC7-AAFC-4362-B103-868B0683C697} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\mljgf.dll

* After you have fixed these items, close Hijackthis and Press any key to Force a reboot of your computer.
* Pressing any key will cause a 'Blue Screen of Death' this is normal, do not worry!
* Once your machine reboots please continue with the instructions below.

Download and install CleanUp! http://www.greyknigh...spy/CleanUp.exe

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click 'Options...'
Move the arrow down to 'Custom CleanUp!'
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):

* Empty Recycle Bins
* Delete Cookies
* Delete Prefetch files
* Cleanup! All Users

Click OK. Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.
It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

Then, please run an online virus scan at ActiveScan http://www.pandasoft.../activescan.htm

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HijackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

Try running Ewido in Safe Mode again and see if you can run it all the way and save the report. Post the report here.

Hi,
Not quite done yet, got to the Panda Active scan, have tried 4 times, it keeps freezing up on scanning when it gets to the EXPLORER.EXE folder. Is there another scanner you want me to try? Or know why this is doing this, didn't do it last time I used Panda.

Waiting on you, won't do the Hijack this or the ewido until I hear from you, will post the Vundo txt.


There was also only last two fixes to check off there wasn't a 02-BHO..., and the last one 020 said the file was mising.

Hi Donna, please continue with the remaining fix...skip Panda. Panda has been having problems with their servers lately, so some got it to work, while others (like you) are having problems with it. Skip it for now and use just Ewido. Run it at another time to see if it's working...

Well, finished the Ewido scan, and came up good will post log, and also posting latest Hi Jack this after a reboot. Will post my counterspy report probably tomorrow, as that takes forever and that is the one that originally picked up on the Virtumondo spyware, too tired to stay awake for that to finish. Will wait a few to see if you reply to my post tonight on Hijack this log. If not will be touching base with you on the morrow, oops guess it is that now, at least here. Thanks so much so far for your help. Will definately make a donation to this web site when all is said and done.

Hope you had a good day. Hopefully this is all good. Did a Reboot, scanned in safe mode with Ewido, it finally worked,results follow, still couldn't do a full system scan at panda, kept freezing browser at EXPLORER.EXE., tried numerous times, finally tried to scan just discs, they let that finish, results are also posted, said found 3 spy ware. So I don't know if there is something somewhere stopping it at Explorer.exe.
Nothing seemed major, and where they said that those certain keys were created in the Registry, I couldn't find them? So did a final HiJack this after the panda scan and that results are also posted. So if you feel I should do anything else please let me know.

This should get rid of them:

Download KillBox http://www.greyknigh...spy/KillBox.exe. Run KillBox and check the box that says 'End Explorer Shell While Killing File'. Next click on 'Delete on Reboot'. Right click and copy the below lines. Go back to KillBox. Go to File->Paste from Clipboard and then hit the button with a red circle and white X. Confirm to delete and when asked if you want to reboot, say Yes:

Downloaded and ran program, found first file and deleted with no problem, rebooted and file was gone, but i have searched and searched 3-4 times the other two files are just not there, what the heck happened to them? any ideas? or is it just good they aren't there?
