A few days ago, Winfixer 2005 started popping up when random keys were pressed while on the Internet. The user, as far as she knows, did not allow anything to install, but obviously, SOMEONE did.
For the past 8 hours, McAfee has constantly been popping up with its PUP Found window for c:\windows\system32\vturq.dll.
I am attempting to run the Clean instructions, but can't because the popups from McAfee are making the system crawl --- or maybe it is the malware itself that is causing this, I am unsure. I managed to get cleanmgr to run, but just getting Adaware installed is a nightmare.
Should I stop McAfee virus scan from running while attempting this process?
