hi there, i have followed your instructions in the please read before posting hi jack this thread, and still dont think that the trojan horse apropo.O virus has been removed, so i would appreciate help greatly.

I don't see any signs of active infection. Try clearing your restore points.

To reset your restore points, please note that you will need to log into your computer with an account which has full administrator access. You will know if the account has administrator access because you will be able to see the System Restore tab. If the tab is missing, you are logged in under a limited account.

On the Desktop, right-click My Computer.
Click Properties.
Click the System Restore tab.
Check Turn off System Restore.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

2. Reboot.

Im not fit to sew the big guys cape I want you to know but, you say you "think", may I ask just what brought you to this line of thinking? Is there a reason?

because the virus keeps coming and going. i will be roaming the internet on any site (for example it happened on google) and avg will come up with an error message saying i have a trojan horse on my pooter, so i press the heal button...it says its healed...i then get [edited language] loads of popups etc. i run all sorts of programs (spybot, adaware and windows antivirus beta)

i get rid of the spyware and adware, then carry on my internet and the popups will stay for a bit, then go. its random. ill reboot, go on the internet for a bit, and its oki, then low and behold the blighter is bak again!

so thats what i mean when i say i dont think its gone. cos it will no doubt just reappear again.

oh 1st off sorry about the swear word in the last message. i was just ranting on, and didnt realise i had put it.

oki, i cant really say the website address, as it is random when i happens, like i said, it came up on a simple google search once, so i cant be sure.

i do know the location of it however, which is something i seemed to have missed of previous posts, so if it helps, the location that comes up when i run avg is:

C:\Documents and Settings\Tom\Local Settings\Temp\AutoUpdate0\AutoUpdate.exe

local settings is the internet cookies isnt it?

but what is the auto updates part?

Now we're getting somewhere. An executable running from a temp file is almost always a sign of trouble. First, let's clear your temp files.

Please reboot into safe mode (continually tap the F8 key while your system is starting, select Safe Mode from the menu).
Be sure you're able to view hidden files, and remove the following files in bold (if found):

Please delete your temporary files. Double Click My Computer (WinXP: Navigate to Start --->My Computer)
You will see an icon representing your harddrive (most likely C: Drive) Right Click on the hard drive icon and click Properties at the
bottom of the fly out window. One the very first tab (General) you will see a button labeled "Disk Cleanup"...click that button.
Make sure the following are checked:
Downloaded Program Files
Temporary Internet Files and
Recycle Bin
Click OK and Disk Cleanup will delete those files for you.

Reboot, post a fresh Hijack This log, and let us know how your system's working.
