[Tajin]

I have the Winfixer popup, and despite all my best efforts I have been unable to get rid of it. I ran through all the steps (again) given in the BEFORE YOU POST A HIJACKTHIS LOG, here is the log itself. I am at Hamilton College and therefore on the Hamilton network, I have been for about two months, if that's any help; it's also where I get Sophos from. I'm using Windows XP on a 3-4 month-old laptop, have had Norton Antivirus and then Sophos with no lapse in between, Adaware, installed SpyBot a month or two ago.

Hi Tajin, welcome to GeeksToGo! I will be assisting you in cleaning up your PC today!
Please print these directions for use if/when you cannot access this page.

First, please move HJT off the desktop and into a permanent folder. This will help keep backups safe.
*Go to Start > My Computer > and double click on C:.
* Now right click an open area and click New > folder and change the folder name to HJT.
* Extract HijackThis from the zipped file into this new folder.

Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop.

• Double-click VundoFix.exe to extract the files
• This will create a VundoFix folder on your desktop.
• After the files are extracted, please reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping the F8 key until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode then hit enter.
• Once in safe mode open the VundoFix folder and doubleclick on KillVundo.bat
• You will first be presented with a warning.

Download and install CleanUp!

Open Cleanup! by double-clicking the icon on your desktop (or from the Start > All Programs menu).
Set the program up as follows:
Click "Options..."
Move the arrow down to "Custom CleanUp!"
Put a check next to the following (Make sure nothing else is checked!):

• Empty Recycle Bins
• Delete Cookies
• Delete Prefetch files
• Cleanup! All Users

Click OK
Press the CleanUp! button to start the program.

It may ask you to reboot at the end, click NO.

Then, please run this online virus scan: ActiveScan

Copy the results of the ActiveScan and paste them here along with a new HiJackThis log and the vundofix.txt file from the vundofix folder into this topic.

Please open HJT, and place a check next to the following intems:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = http://bfc.myway.com...de_srchlft.html
R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {4D25F926-B9FE-4682-BF72-8AB8210D6D75} - C:\Program Files\MyWaySA\SrchAsDe\1.bin\deSrcAs.dll

Close all open browser windows, and other applications, and press the 'Fix Checked' button.

Then, go to Add/Remove Programs. Go to Start > Control Pannel > Add or Remove Programs. Select to remove MyWebSearch/MySearch
