Hi,

Here's my problem, and I am stuck:

My computer loads to the 'welcome' screen where I click on my username to get in;

It seems to stall then loads only my background pic and nothing else on my desktop appears.

A 'Windows Explorer error report' screen comes up saying that something is not right

I can only run programs through 'Ctrl-Alt-Del' and using the task manager.

I am at a loss as I have run anti-virus software and tried Registry Fix to no avail.

Do I have to reinstall XP or use the repair feature?

Any help would be sick.

When you get task manager, click file, new task, type explorer.exe then press enter to get the desktop, run the PC for a while, reboot to check the desktop loads

And / or

Click start then run, type sfc /scannow then press enter to replace the system files, you need the XP CD and get a blue bar, reboot when the bar goes

possible some program at the startup is causing explorer to crash. Did you try clearing the startup items in safemode, then restart. Give this a try and then follow "Keith's" steps.
