Hi, I just wanted to say thank you in advance for looking at this log for me. First off, I followed all of the directions before posting this log, but it didn't seem to cure much of anything. My computer keeps randomly restarting!! I hope it doesnt restart while doing this. Also, I cannot get rid of surf side kick, nail.exe, or the best offers. A bunch of random file names keep being generated too, probably from some trojan but I cant find the source. My computer is starting up slow, running terribly slow and freezing, and it keeps restarting. not to mention all of the adds. I can't seem to rid of anything because every time I delete something, it comes right back. please help! thank you very much.

Hi biggun1234 and welcome to the Geeks to Go Forums.

My name is Trevuren and I will be helping you with your log.

1. Please DELETE your current HJT program from its present location.

2. Download and run the following HijackThis autoinstall program from Here . Please choose the default location of C:\Program Files\ as the destination. HJT needs to be in its own folder so that the program itself isn't deleted by accident. Having the backups could be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!
  • Run HijackThis
  • Click SCAN and SAVE LOG. (a notepad window will open with the log in it when you click Save Log) (Ctrl-A to'select all', Ctrl-C to 'copy')
  • POST the log into this thread using 'Add Reply' (Ctrl-V to 'paste')

DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR CLICK "FIX CHECKED" UNTIL WE CHECK THE LOG, AS MOST OF THE FILES ARE LEGIT AND VITAL TO THE FUNCTION OF YOUR COMPUTER

I also forgot to add that Ewido keeps finding random file name trojans like llzrxr.exe and when it deletes them, they come back as another random file name. thanks again.

BEFORE BEGINNING, Please read completely through the instructions below and download the files from the links provided. You may want to save or print out these instructions for easier reference.

1. Download Ewido Security Suite.

2. Download Lavasoft's Ad-Aware and the VX2 Cleaner Plug-in.
  • Install Ad-Aware using the default options.
  • Then install vx2cleaner_inst.exe, using all the defaults there as well.
3. Run Ad-Aware
  • Update to the latest definitions
  • Then click on Add-ons in the lefthand column.
  • Select VX2 Cleaner V2.0 and click Run Tool. Click "OK".
  • If something is found, click "Clean" as in the directions given.
  • Click "Close", and EXIT Ad-Aware.
4. Reboot your PC and run Ad-Aware again.
  • This time, click on the Start button in Ad-Aware
  • Select "Perform smart system scan" and click Next.
  • Once the scan finishes, click "Next" again.
  • Select all objects found ("right click anywhere in the list of found objects and click "Select All Objects").
  • Click "Next" one more time, then "OK" to confirm the removal.
  • You will be prompted to set Ad-Aware to run on reboot, click "OK".
  • Exit Ad-Aware
  • REBOOT your PC
  • When Ad-Aware starts up, click on "Start", then "Next".
  • Follow the steps above if anything is found, or click "Finish", then EXIT Ad-Aware.
5. For a final cleanup, please install and run Ewido.
  • When installing, under "Additional Options" uncheck "Install background guard" and "Install scan via context menu".
  • When you run ewido for the first time, you may get a warning "Database could not be found!". Click OK. We will fix this in a moment.
  • From the main ewido screen, click on update in the left menu, then click the Start update button.
  • After the update finishes (the status bar at the bottom will display "Update successful")
  • Click on the Scanner button in the left menu, then click on Complete System Scan. This scan can take quite a while to run.
  • If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. We have been finding some cases of false positives with the new version of Ewido, so we need to step through the fixes one-by-one. If Ewido finds something that you KNOW is legitimate (for example, parts of AVG Antivirus, pcAnywhere and the game "Risk" have been flagged), select "none" as the action. DO NOT check "Perform action with all infections". If you are unsure of an entry, select "none" for the time being. I'll see that in the log you will post later and let you know if ewido needs to be run again.
  • When the scan finishes, click on "Save Report". This will create a text file. Make sure you know where to find this file again.
6. Please finish up by rebooting your system once more, and posting a new HijackThis log and the log from the Ewido scan.

Your system is in bad shape but I thnk we can get it up and running smoothly again. It will take some time though. So patience is required.

We want to stop, disable and delete an added service (023)

A. To stop a service and set to 'disabled'
  • Go to Start > Run and type in Services.msc then click OK
  • Click the Extended tab.
  • Scroll down until you find the service.
    ===>Windows Overlay Components
  • Click once on the service to highlight it.
  • Click Stop
  • Right-Click on the service.
  • Click on 'Properties'
  • Select the 'General' tab
  • Click the Arrow-down tab on the right-hand side on the 'Start-up Type' box
  • From the drop-down menu, click on 'Disabled'
  • Click the 'Apply' tab, then click 'OK'
The service is now stopped and disabled.


B. We will now delete the service:

1. Open HJT

2. Click on Config>>Misc Tools>>Delete an NT Service

3. Copy/Paste Windows Overlay Components in the space provided and click OK

4. The program will ask you to REBOOT --- Accept

5. REBOOT into SAFE MODE

6. Using Windows Explorer, locate and DELETE the following file (if it still is present):

C:\WINDOWS\scuqhqu.exe

7. REBOOT back into Normal Mode

1. Please enter mscongig and make sure that all programs are checked under the Startup Tab.

2. Reboot your system.

3. Please print out or copy this page to Notepad . Make sure to work through the steps in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fix.
  • Download DSRFIX from HERE onto your Desktop.
    • Unzip and EXTRACT the files to your Desktop.
    • The program creates and names the new folder to house the files.
    • DO NOT RUN IT YET
  • Download Cleanup from Here (Alternate site if the above is not working Go Here)
    • A window will open and choose SAVE, then DESKTOP as the destination.
    • On your Desktop, click on Cleanup40.exe icon.
    • Then, click RUN and place a checkmark beside "I Agree"
    • Then click NEXT followed by START and OK.
    • A window will appear with many choices, keep all the defaults as set when the Slide Bar to the left is set to Standard Quality.
    • Click OK
    • DO NOT RUN IT YET
  • CLOSE INTERNET EXPLORER, if it is open


  • Open the folder dsrfix
    • Double click on the dsrfix batch file( the one with the little gear in it )
    • Once dsrfix has completed it will close on its own
  • Run Cleanup
    • Click on the "Cleanup" button and let it run.
    • Once its done, close the program.
  • REBOOT your system.


  • Please restart HJT and post back a fresh HJT log for review.

HI, I just noticed something that you may be important, not sure though. Even though I enabled everything to run in MSconfig, after running the dsrfix tool and Clean up, there are now more programs on the list that have been deselected. Did clean up or the dsrfix tool do this? I was just wondering if it was a problem and if i should select them all again?

Don't touch anything.

1. Please download LQfix.exe and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-Click LQfix.exe and click Next > Next > Install.
  • Leave the default settings, if you change them, the fix will Fail!
  • Now make sure the "Launch LQfix" box is checked.
  • Click the Finish button, after clicking the Finish button the fix will start.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts.
  • Your system will now reboot afterwards.

For some reason the LQfix.exe you provided kept saying the files were corrupted when i tried to install it. I found a new copy of the same LQfix.exe elsewhere that worked so I used it. Here is the new log.
