Hello. Let's start by saying I know NOTHING about hardware, except that the TV looking thing is the monitor, and the thingy with all the buttons is the keyboard. And maybe some other stuff.

But my isssue is, my computer isn't starting properly. I'm on my brother's right now.

What my computer does, exactly is this...

*pushes on button*

*"on" light glows blue, hummmmm....BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP*

And then the screen stays black. The monitor's "on" light is green, but it doesn't turn on.

I have a Sony Vaiao...with Windows ME.

Hello DizzyFan, Welcome to GeekstoGo!
The beeps you're hearing are telling you what's wrong with your computer. Listen to them more carefully, they should keep beeping in a pattern. Like two short beeps then one long beep or such. Post back when you can tell us more. Did you recently install any hardware in the computer or anything else like that?

Well, let's see...I had just opened the newly installed Yahoo! Instant Messenger, then the screen went black. When I tried restarting, it started the problem...and the beeps go "Looooong short short short."

Sounds to me like your video graphics adapter, whether it be on your motherboard or added in a PCI or AGP slot is what's giving you the problem. Do you have onboard video, or is there a seperate video card?
