I'm going to start simple before I over load anyone. I'm at my end. I'm on a wireless network now. Have router security activated. I have a TON of security, spyware, firewall, etc., software I use to block bad stuff. (I can list it all later if needed.) I've done almost everything recommended to check my computer and then some. I've changed so much stuff now, I hope I didn't remove something by accident. I've disabled each security program one at a time and try again. Nothing worked. Here's the deal.

I can't access websites. I'm even using Firefox now, hoping it would help. It didn't. When in IE or Firefox, I do a search from yahoo, google, etc. I get results back, but when I try to access sites, I sit and look at the loading pages forever or they just never load. I've gotten the you don't have access or permission to view this site, no page found, can't find server, etc. I can't get on the basic sites. ebay, yahoo groups, foodnetwork, delta, etc. What's weird is I can send and receive email. I'm on earthlink.

The one thing I have found and can't figure out is under my IE tools, options, security tab, there is a TON of stuff, sites, and IP addresses listed under the "restricted sites" section. I have not put these in there and don't know how they got there. I thought maybe outlook put them there when I used the junk email, restrict sender option. But I KNOW I didn't add ebay, etc. Every time I've gone in to delete the restricted sites, I have to individually click on each one. It's a lot. Then I apply changes, hit okay and get out. I've rebooted, etc. When I get back into IE, their still there. It's the only thing I can think might be causing my problem.

If you need me to hijackthis, I can. PLEASE help me. I have so much research to do and can't get anything done. :tazz:

Thanks for any help or suggestions. Tortmom

Welcome to Geeks to Go tortmom. We're seeing this problem much more frequently. There are a couple common fixes that don't seem to be working. I think you may have hit on an important discovery here:

The one thing I have found and can't figure out is under my IE tools, options, security tab, there is a TON of stuff, sites, and IP addresses listed under the "restricted sites" section. I have not put these in there and don't know how they got there.

Here's a little utility to clear those sites. Warning: Deletes all entries in the Restricted & Trusted Zone list

Download and save file below -- Unzip. To execute this file: in Explorer - right-click (this file). Select Install from the Menu.

Download here: http://www.geekstogo...=download&id=40

Let us know if that helps. :tazz:

Next ,let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log as a new topic in the Hijack This forum. It will get a better response there from the people most qualified to analyze logs.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide. Also see this post.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

Thank you for the suggestion. I downloaded the recommended file. It cleaned out my restricted sites list, but didn't help my problem. I still can't access sites. I have read the other post you sent and did try those suggestions before I emailed the forum. I will post my hijackthis for help.

Thanks again. Tortmom :tazz:
